I have a few thousand vintage (1940's to 1970's) camera/photography magazines that I need to get rid of. Various titles, such as Modern Photography, Popular Photography, etc. Free to first person who comes to my house in NC and takes them away. At the end of this week, they go in the recycling bin.

Well Bill, I love old photo magazines (not having paid attention to photography except for the last four years or so).
Too bad I'm in TX and you're in NC.

If I were close to your house in North Carolina, I too would come and relieve you of all your magazines.
Instead of tossing them into the recycling bin, have you considered selling them in small lots on eBay?
Buy the way; if you have a 1940 U.S. Camera Annual or any 1978, 1979, or 1983 photography annuals, I would be willing to buy them.

No time. I have a house here, but I do not live here. Only home for a short visit, then back to MI. Planning to move the entire family shortly to MI.
As to eBay, I have a few thousand rangefinder cameras about to go up for sale on eBay. No time for magazines as well.

Sell them on {insert sleazy auction site here}!
You always see vintage magazines there!
Hint: Use "L@@K" and "R@RE" in your description.

Come again?
Are you going to put these up in batches, or one at a time?
I'd like to call dibs on either a Walz Envoy 35 or a Vivitar 35ES

I have neither of those. I believe I will try to put them up one at a time. My grand vision (which I may or may not be able to pull off) is to do a nice photo of each one, a historic write up (like my old Minolta 9 and Karat IV write ups I did years ago) and then sell them. The only problem I'm facing is that in the past, my eBay sales have tended to attract about 50% people who wanted full or partial refunds after the fact or found 'dust' or 'pet hair' or some other objectionable thing after using it for a few weeks. I just want them gone, I'm not planning on running a business or negotiating with morons or crooks. So I may just dump 'em on the local Goodwill and be done with it.

Yeah, do the Goodwill thing. They may get some money for them.

They can deal with the people bringing them back because a $5 camera "doesn't work." Hehehe.

See if the local library has a book store in it...they resell them and the money helps support the library...

Clever idea but no time. I just need them gone.

You could put a list here and wait for offers.
Some of the cameras could be interesting to part of us.
Then, you would just have to add the dust and pet hair and ship...

With regard to the cameras, all one would have to do would be to follow my eBay handle. With regard to the magazines, again no time. They are gone one way or another at the end of the week. I also have a giant honking MF enlarger in my garage. Come get it or it goes out for the trash.

Hijack in progress -- but it's an old thread, and it's a giveaway so maybe I will be forgiven --
What -- old photo mags -- Pop Photo, Modern Photo, Petersen's, others, some going back to the late 60's
Where -- San Francisco Bay area
What again -- if anyone is interested, I will pass them on -- some are in impeccable shape, others have a challenged spine, a few have a cover or two missing
Or in the words of our favorite ads -- "These are in excellent shape for their age."
How -- I'm going to go through these, most likely accumulating bundles of 5 years for each magazine -- but this is negotiable, if you want more to make your trip worthwhile
How again -- you pick them up
I'll take name, rank and serial number and, if you wish, and there's more than one of you, you can pass them on to each other.
Hurry, before the price multiplies. I'm seeing a 3-fold increase in the price as early as tomorrow with the expected clamorous demand. Also an upgrade from classic magazines to antique magazines.
If you call in the next ten minutes, I will send you twice as many.
This offer is not available in stores.
I am not a professional reader, so I have not read tested these recently. Offered "As Is", no returns.
