I have a problem I need your collective advice with.

How to overcome a variant of GAS I haven't experienced before?

I've been spending more time lately shooting with my meterless cameras. This is exacerbated by arranging to purchase an M2.

So all of a sudden my watch list on the 'bay is full of light meters! Westons, Gossens, others.

Especially the Gossens. I find myself seriously pining for a Lunasix 3. Local second-hand shop has one in sparkly nick for GBP70, which pennies more than ebay with shipping. And guaranteed. Nice heft, fits the hand well, intuitive controls, less silly (point the back of the meter in a direction?) than the Westons. Speaking of which, they had an excellent Euromaster and cone in store as well...

And I love my newly-arrived but slightly unreliable Calculight XP so much I want another one!

But I just agreed to spend my current GAS fund all in one place. Plus I still need adapters and a 75 finder. So no money for meters.

🙁

HELP!

Mark I think our collective advice would be to spend and spend until you're spent (so to speak). 🙂 I mean be serious, have you ever seen a post here where someone says oh I wouldn't get that because you've spent quite a bit the last couple of months... 🙄 😉

The only real way to cure GAS is to get what you want, it's inevitable.

Mark, in a previous incarnation I used to have a Lunasix. Superb gear.

My current Minolta Autometer IVF is much lighter, faster, more precise, with flash capability, etc, but no soul.

Actually, to avoid buying another meter to complement my M2, I bought a M6.

Get the Lunasix, it is cheaper.

Easy, send me your M2 and your worries will be over.

At least, the GAS worries.

Whaddaya think? 😉

Even easier, send us ALL your meterless cameras and you won't need a meter.

Funny you should say that...

I was looking for an M2, and I considered how I like to shoot 75 reasonably regularly, and how a meter in camera is often handy.

I thought: I'd love an M2, but that has it's problems. I'd really love an MP, and that would be the perfect solution. But, I can get both a user each of an M2 and an M6 for maybe slightly more than half what I'd pay for an MP, and cover all the bases. Plus, two cameras are always better than one 😀

That argument even convinced my wife: "You want two Leicas?... ... Oh, that makes sense."

So, purchase agreed on the M2, now GAS money is saving to the M6. Probably in chrome to match, if I can find one. I know, I'm weird. I like chrome cameras.

You are welcome Mark. We are renowned for being 'helpful'. 😉 Two Leicas sounds much better than one, I bought two this year and now I have three with two in use and one as a backup. Works really well. 🙂 You should think about it... 😉
