I plan on buying either a fridge or a deep freezer and fill it with film.
Which one is the best for long term storage over the expiration date ?
I guess deep freezer but I would appreciate feedback of experience in this area.
Thanks

I think you'll find a lot of opinion and documented proof in answers to this question.

I refrigerate and always has. Film last a long, long time. Many, maybe even most, people freeze.

My logic is that camera stores always refrigerated and never froze. I don't know how the film manufacturers did long-term storage of film.

I keep color and fast (over 400) back and white in the freezer. Regular B&W goes in the refrigerator. However the film is not protected from cosmic radiation even when in the freezer, so freezing is not a guarantee that very fast film will keep indefinitely. It won't.

Thanks. Kodak is very conservative with their times and dates. I think I will stick to the deep freezer and locate it in the basement of my house, one of the coolest place, to minimise the power consumption.

Then why did you ask... sounds like you had your mind made up already. Not a critique... just wondering why.
