Good points about the comparison with the X2. Personally, I tried all 3 cameras - the RX-1, X2 and the X100s. Out of all three the RX-1 felt right for me and seemed a worthy replacement for my Leica DRF kit which I sold last year. With its (almost absurdly) large pixel count it is the equivalent of having a M8 with a 28 and 50 lenses all in one smaller package. The 35/2 really does appear to me to be easily as good as my 28/2.8 ASPH and my 50/2.8 Elmar which were my most used lenses. I know that will upset a lot of Leica folk but that's what my comparisons show.
But like you say: it is all a personal choice and I feel that you take better pictures if you like the tool you use.
In the end it is the camera you have with you that takes the shot and you should end up choosing the camera you want to have with you for that reason alone, regardless of comparisons, pixel counts, reviews etc.

My M9's not been touched since I got mine...in fact even my 'carry everywhere' M8's stayed at home because the in-cam B/W is yummy too. I'd honestly forgotten what it was like to take handheld shots in low light.
It hits the nail on the head for my needs.
...And My God those JPEG, wow.
