Noticed some major front focusing when shooting at f/8 with this lens- subject maybe 50 ft away. Is this normal? Any tips on working with this lens? I'm guessing it has some focus shift issues that are normal, just wish I'd thought of that before buying.

Screwmount 9cm 1:4 Elmar ? You can screw off the head of this lens and use the head with a Visoflex. If the head-part and focus part (helicoil) are from different lenses then focus might be off.

Try it wide-open and close-up. There is not much in the way of focus shift.

I had a 1946 lens that front-focused, had to grind the focus mount down to correct it. The lens did not use a shim. As mentioned above, i suspect it was made from mismatched parts.

Thanks for the info.. I just hope it was trouble with my focusing in the dim light. I'll do a little testing before I inquire about this with the guy who sold it to me here.
