i see that there are a lot of fsu gear fans here, so i thought that we could maybe make a little photo contest when we finish with that HCB contest.
we can make it just for fun and to show what FSU lens and bodies can do. i thought that only rule could be that both body and lens are fsu.
if fun is not enough and you want some prize we could give some symbolic amount of money for each competitor (1$ for example), and then we could buy some fsu camera or lens to a winner from some online store or ebay.
so what do you think?

Top prize could be a quality print of the winning picture if we want to keep it simple..

You get one half of the prize winning picture if you manage to come out tops..

now i see its better that we make a competition only for fsu lens no matter what bodies. so stephanie you are in.

We just need to find a way to get the print of the winning picture to the photographer who took the best photonzeeman said:yes quality print is great idea.

We also need to figure out who's going to print it.
I vote for a wet print...but that'll only be good if someone in this contest does it and can take the time to make it...otherwise I assume that the print will have to be digital.

we will send it easy via mail. and maybe i can try to print one. but i can print only up to 20x30 cm. what size do you think is the best for prize?

20x30cm should be plenty large enough.

I can do up to 30x58 but it would have to be printed on an Epson. Wouldn't the winning person already have the winning photo so he could send it for printing and we send them the money. I think for fun would be better

You seem to be the first one figuring it out all the way..Byuphoto said:Wouldn't the winning person already have the winning photo...
I had anticipated being jumped in the neck in no time flat..
Sorry for being bad...
This just isn't my day/week/month. Still waiting for the repair of the Bessa-T, and while I've got a nicely looking FED to alleviate the feeling of loss, I don't quite feel complete...

I would join in if the contest required both FSU body and lens (or at least the body).. but having it just the lens doesn't really have enough cohesion to the theme for me.. considering you have so many different focal lengths
it would be like saying 'let's have a Tri-X contest' and when people say 'I can't develop b&w, can I use BW400CN instead?' and agreeing that any film that is converted to b&w is close enough.. then what is the point?
the lens produces the image, but for me, the fun part of FSU is the body.. be it Kiev, Zorki, FED, whatever.. and it's not like the bodies are terribly expensive.. but that's what generates the FSU experience

Not to be exclusive for the sake of being exclusive but the FSU bodies have some quirks that can be challenging as well. Shooting a J8 on a Bessa R is very different than shooting a J8 on a Kiev 2. The Feds have a limited range of shutter speeds compared to some other bodies. The FSU experience is not just the lenses; it is the quirky, light leaking, griding, snap-a-shutter-cord --in-the-middle-of-a-roll experience. For some of us it is using the first camera we ever re-conditioned.
No I think it should be full hog FSU only, Zorki vs Kiev at 10 meters, my Fed can beat up your Droog any day kind of thing.

Back to basics...
I'd be interested, as long as I have a little time for my FED 5 to show up.

I'm interested, but only if an FSU body and lens is required. Otherwise it just doesn't make much sense to me. I'm being honest here - I don't even have an FSU body at the moment, only a J-8. So I'm not just talking in my own favor - I think it's just required to narrow the theme a bit. I agree with Brett.
If this happens, I'll have to search a cheap and quirky FSU body..
I love justifying GAS in the form of a contest!

I would also be interested, but only if both a FSU body and lens are used.

Ok ok. Since i suggested this. lets do it old way. we will need to shoot with fsu body and lens. i agree that that will be more fun. if anyone else have some new ideas for additional rules and prizes please tell us. any comment is usefull.

it seems that this is the beginning of one beautiful contest
