Hola' Comrades! from The Republic of Texas !
I am now a fellow FSU owner. This photo competition sounds like a wonderful way to learn to know my recently aquired Kiev 4A, purchased from a fellow RFF member here !
I vote for ALL FSU equipment all the way !! And we should celebrate the winner with shots of (what else?) Stoly Vodka !!
Cheers !

i didnt have time last night to inform you that Gordy answered my mail and told that he will donate one strap to a winner. The winner could have the choice of strap.
THANKS GORDY AND THANKS KIM COXON!
btw i still havent received any message from Jorge, so i dont know his opinion.

i hope he will not get mad about this. i was just wondering if there is any chance to make fsu contest one day and i didnt expect this much interest. i thought that maybe 15 people will be for that. but this is amazing-59 until now!

but lets settle things down and not ruin HCB contest. we will organize this fsu right after it. and now lets get camera and shoot some more street for HCB.

Nah...I'll want to keep it then.

I don't think there should be any restrictions on focal length. It just has to be an FSU body and lens, and there needs to be a theme.
Socke, thanks for the offer, but I couldn't resist myself and bough a Z-5 with Industar-50 yesterday. Because I wanted that I-50, and because I needed an FSU body as well

the snow must go on
Seems strange to me, a bit, to make a contest based on the restriction of the equipment. I would prefer one based on a theme. But it's just my oppinion, wish you all (honestly) to have fun with the contest!

The running HCB contest was also based on a restricted choice of equipment (film based RF with normal lens).Pherdinand said:Seems strange to me, a bit, to make a contest based on the restriction of the equipment. the snow must go on
that also seems strange a bit, Peter
But there at least exists a somewhat defined theme to the contest, and the theme itself is what results in some eqp restriction.

I see where you're coming from, Pherdinand, but I think the idea behind this contest is to prove to the world that one can make lovely, prize-winning pictures with $50 worth of equipment. Evil Commie equipment, no less.

Kim Coxon said:Allright, I was going to wait until Jorge gave his OK before saying this but as it seems to be running away.... I also think this should be thought about and set up after the HCB competition is over.
Anyway, providing Jorge is happy and nothing is done until the "real" comp is over, I will donate a coloured Fed 2 and I26 as a prize. I will even ship it to the winner.
Kim
Well done! Fed 2 + I26 is not like Zeiss, but it's ful with emotions...
Jorge, don't be angry on us
after BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG HCB contest...

Slow learner,but keen!
I'll have a go as soon as all is ready, provided my Mir is back from CLA,otherwise it will have to be my old Fed 4.

I'd be in... ONLY after HCB.
Great idea and super great for guys to offer prizes. Bravo Gordy & Kim!!
The "Workin' Man" theme has possibilities. I like that. Then there's also the "Mafia Man" option; something taken from the trunk of a car. [joke
] Or the "Siberia Theme" ; something taken with a frozen shutter. Or, the "Chernobyl Theme" ; something taken at a dead run!
My humble apologies... I'll shut up before I get banned from all RFF contests for life! But you know me. If it's FSU, I'm in.

I just got my BeLOMO Agat 18K from Mr. Jon Goodman. It's 100% FSU.
I think this competition is an excellent idea. I voted for 'fun'.

Just brain-storming here, but since we have some time to put this together, what if we asked some of our members that live in the FSU or someone like Alex-photo, Fedka or Oleg, etc. what would be a good theme for a "Full-bore FSU Photo Contest"? ...something that would not only exhibit FSURFs, but also their great culture and history.
Also, I'm sure this will all be done "for fun," for the enjoyment of the equipment and for the encouragement all involved. So it would be just fine with me if the father of this wonderful idea, nzeeman, and maybe the two "prize guys," Gordy and Kim, would corroborate and make the final decisions concerning theme, purpose, prize and how to evaluate entries. I would have full confidence in their ability to consider all posts/comments and make great decisions to make it an enjoyable project.

Personally I would not limit the contest to pictures of this thing or that thing. I think I'd leave it completely open and let individual imaginations choose the subjects.

I'll second Gordy's suggestion on the "red" theme. It can be done in so many ways.
Including black and white.
