So it would be just fine with me if the father of this wonderful idea, nzeeman, and maybe the two "prize guys," Gordy and Kim, would corroborate and make the final decisions concerning theme, purpose, prize and how to evaluate entries. I would have full confidence in their ability to consider all posts/comments and make great decisions to make it an enjoyable project.
thanks for your confidence but i think it is best to make one poll after this brainstorming and to choose theme that way. also we can use poll to choose prizes- do we have only first prize or prizes for first second and third. i think thats better because more people will be satisfied that way.

I repost my suggestion about the "working world" theme. This seems to me an easier and open theme - it's not restricted to proletariat, it allows street shot but not only.
But I like also the restricted "working man" theme which is quite appropriate for this kind of contest (thanks CVBLZ4).
Chernobyl theme?? what would it be? Shooting irradiated freaks? Humm...
Bests,
Marc

I find the shots in the galleries really interesting, particularly where they give an idea of where our contributors live. I would love to see where and how people live from the wide range of geographic backgrounds that we represent. I don't mean inside your home exactly, but a general feel of your community. So, to add to the theme suggested by CVBLZ4, how about 3 shots showing "where/how we live", "where/how we work" and "where/how we enjoy our free time" the "we" here being representantive of our communities or however you would interpret this? Anyway, I'm in.

PertarDima, I think so too ;-)
An FSU photo contest should be a tribute to the Working World, Comrade ;-)

Well, some of my old lenses could contain radioactive materials.Chernobyl theme
Funnily enough, I have a stash of photo paper that says, "Cernobily Fotograficky Papir". For ages I actually believed it was made in Chernobyl. Actually, it comes from the Czech Republic, where 'Cernobily' apparently means "black and white".

I think fidget's suggestion of 3 pictures is good because of its breadth, but I wonder if it might be a little too challenging to get good pictures for all 3 categories.
Also, is it okay to use an FSU non-rangefinder camera?

maybe its best to make contest as free as possibel. only limit would be fsu gear.
and about non - rangefinder i dont know. maybe it would be good to use only RF because this is RFF.

I think SLR's such as they Zenit should be excluded but I would have no problems with P&S, cameras like the Zarya or non RF folders. I would put those in the "spirit" of the forum.

Thanks, Kim. I plan to use my Agat 18K (a half-frame scale focus camera) with my accessory rangefinder.

I really looking forward to this one, it sounds like great fun. Never done the contest thing before, and this seems like a great low stakes way to get started! Good excuse to play with the new toy too !
