Hi,
I wanted to compare my lenses regarding bokeh, and I'd like to share the results with you guys.
The model is my beautiful and beloved girlfriend. She was so nice, and had a lot of patience with me...
I compared the lenses I have at the moment: Industar 61 50mm, Jupiter 8 50mm, another Jupiter 8 with terribly scratched front element, and Jupiter 9 85mm.
I will post the 50mm lenses at each f-stop together, and then the 85.
EDIT: Attached photos were replaced with better color ballanced ones (I used manual expsure setting on my scanner).

PS: I especially like the scratched J8 at f4 shot (becuse it's so dreamy), and the J9 at f4 (because is's sooo sharp)

your model is indeed beautiful! It must be a pleasure to test your equipment on such a "subject".

How badly is this Jupiter scratched? I have an Industar 50 on my Zorki with some scratches on it, havent really tested it yet. I know one spot ore scratch doesnt matter much, but the almost new Industar 50 on my zenit seems to be better.

This is a great test Spyderman, I like the Jupiter 9 at f4 best. To my eye, the Industar 61 is sharper than the Jupiter 8 but the Jupiter has nicer Bokeh! Which was your favourite?

I really liked the Industar 61! It has a really nice character to it. It is sharpish, but the way it renders her face is really nice.

Imagine giving a lens to a child, to play with it in the sand. That kind of damage is very close to reality. The front element is just like cleaned with sandpaperHow badly is this Jupiter scratched?
I think the Jupiter 85 is an absolutely gorgeous lens. Also very underrated. The shots at f2 were not very satisfying, but at f4 it's just sooo sharp.Which was your favourite?
I also notices that Sonnar type lenses tend to give out-of-focus highlights with stronger edges when wide open. When stopped down by one stop, the out-of-focus highlights just smoothen out.
The Jupiter 8 has this "classic Sonnar" look of out-of-focus highlights at f2 and f2.8 in corners.
But in the 50mm range I prefer the look of the Industar 61. Already at f2.8 it's so sharp (notice the picture). I like that picture, becuse of the shallow DOF - only her face and some hairs are in focus! Wow!

I agree the f4 shot on the scratched Jupiter is VERY nice and the J-9 at
f2 and f4 are absolutely great.

Nice test! Its funny I just did a similar test with my wife as a subject, comparing different lenses. Havent posted it yet though. And those shots with a scratched lens look really good! I got try it on a J-3... or may be not.

Nice tests, thanks for posting.
Do you know if it's the scratches which gives such a large change in the colour rendition of the J8 (scratched) images?

Definetly impressed with the I61. I never use mine. Anyone ever use them with a Bessa?
