FSU lenses on the CL?

I have recently bought a LTM to M adapter for my CL and Im thinking about getting a few more lenses for it. 28, 35 and 50 is what comes to mind.
At cameraquest.com you can read about wich Leitz lenses not to mount on the CL but Im wondering about FSU-lenses, some of them will extend quite long into the body.

Does any one has any recommendations on what FSU lenses will work on the CL?

That works on the M5. I don't have a CL here to try it out. You have to remember to put the lens on the camera immediately after firing the shutter.

HOWEVER I consider this a fundamentally bad idea, because human beings are forgetful. Basically you are saying that you want to stick to advance film immediately before taking a picture. Personally I am so used to the "fire & advance" rhythm that it would be just a matter of time before I collapsed the lens into the extended metering arm. Even worse, if you accidentally cock the shutter with the lens collapsed, the metering arm can jam with the protrusion at the back of the collapsible lenses, with no way to get at it: from the front there's the lens in the way, from the back you can't open the shutter on B. I wouldn't do it.

Look at my avatar. That's an Industar-22 Elmar-copy collapsed almost 90% of the way into a CL. There is a metal frame in front of the shutter that prevents the lens from hitting the shutter or the metering arm, so it works fine for me.

I have that same industar 22 lens! So is it stuck at 90 percent inside the body? Some pressure wouldnt push it all the way in? My camera goes through a lot of traveling in bags so I need to make sure It wont crush the metering arm if some force is applied..

Good to know. Can you collapse the I-22 all the way or do you have to use a rubber band or something on the barrel?

I never had to use any tape or rubber bands. The lens barrel simply slides in until you feel it stop against the metal frame. Looking inside the front of the CL, the frame seemed rather robust, and I never had any problems from carrying it around with a collapsed lens. I don't own it anymore, otherwise I would take a picture to better describe it.

Some caveats:
Soviet lenses often featured manufacturing variation between different batches of lenses, so perhaps your I-22 may not work. I'm not saying there definitely were variations, just that other lenses, the J-9 for example, were manufactured in a wide variety of configurations.

Ok so I have got my adapter now and my Jupiter 8 and my Industar 22, and they fit nice onto my CL!
BUT!
The framelines showing are still 40mm....
It is not the original Leitz adapter but a third party adapter I bought of e-bay.

Can any one explain to me exactly what it is on the Leica CL that the adapter should effect and cause to bring up the other framelines? Is there and option to work around this problem or do I need to get a new adapter?
 
There are three kinds of adapters for showing different framelines. On a Leica M2, they will show the 35, 50 and 90mm framelines respectively. On a Leica M6, they will show the 35+135, 50+75 and 28+90 framelines respectively. On a Leica CL, the 40mm frameline is always visible, so they will show the 40, 40+50 and 40+90mm framelines respectively. This works by a differently-sized protrusion on one of the teeth of the bayonet.

You've either got an adapter for 35mm lenses, or an improperly machined adapter for one of the other focal lengths. Because of the way the mechanism is set up, you can't modify your 35mm adapter to show another frameline. Get a new adapter.

ok thanks for the explanation..

Thing is that this adapter is for 50 and 75 framelines so I should bring up the 50 on the CL...
Is there a difference in adapters fitting CL and other M-bodies?
Otherwise this adapter must be defective no matter what body I put it onto, right?

no it is the same method on M and CL (only the result are different as told above).
I am afraid but I believe something is defective; if the teeth on the adapter differs some 1/10mm it will bring up incorrect results.
