It's some time since I ventured onto ebay for FSU items. As my FSU stuff has been rather mistakenly sold over the years,I feel the inevitable need to go back that way again
Apart from Cupog, who I always found to be very reliable, are there any other sellers currently doing good work?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Cheers!!

Welcome back SCOTFORTHLAD, long time no see! I haven't bought any FSU gear (well, not cameras) for a while so I can't advise directly. Oleg is still around, I believe and there's a seller call confdntart, or something very similar, that gets a mention on here and has good feedback on Ebay. There is also a guy selling stuff out of the Ukraine from a business trip (can't remember his name) - at least one RFF member has bought from him.
If you've been trawling Ebay, no doubt you'll have seen that UK listings of decent gear are thin on the ground and prices asked have climbed to ridiculous levels in many cases. What are you after?

Both of these vendors have been good for me..... but with FSU's you just don't know.

I've had great luck with a guy who trades as "grizzlybear33". Everything I've gotten has been top drawer.

I have had bad luck with grizzlybear33 and would not recomend anyone to buy anything there. Communication is great but what you get is far from described.
I have good experience with Petersburg_deals, bought a 57 j-3 there and it was exactly as described http://myworld.ebay.com/petersburg_deals?_trksid=p2047675.l2559
Asterliks is another good expereince. http://myworld.ebay.com/asterliks/&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2754

He says he's a UK guy who has extended business trips in the Ukraine.

My brother picked up some gear from him. Quick shipping, nice packing, but definitely no cla on the Mir and j8 he bought...1/30 was sticky, focus on the j8 stiff, though the rest of the speeds were pretty good, and the rf was aligned reasonably close.

Try avoid buying from Russian Federation. The postal service is horrible. 3 out of 5 items I bought never arrived.
Ukraine is fine but the shipping is slow. I have also good experience from Latvia and Belarus. UK has the fastest shipping.
Avoid russianfoto (http://www.ebay.com/sch/russianfoto/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686)
They may ship item 1 month after you paid, very slow in responding your message, except if you open a case, lie about shipping and other information, and keep blaming the postal service for his/her own poor service
I'll recommend this guy:

Btw, I live in Indonesia, so I still consider 1 month shipping quite fast, 3 or 2 weeks shipping super fast.

This is anecdotal evidence only, shipping often depends on the delivery country.
I have brought from Russia and ukraine , in all cases the shipping was about 3 weeks maximum. However tha last purchase took 6 weeks..the parcel was sitting 4 kilometers from my house. It had been there 3 weeks.
BTW, I am further away than Indonesia

I asked him about this initially, and he sent me a link to a Ukraine guy whom he deals with for CLAs. Can't confirm if he actually does, however.
My FED 2 was operationally fine, but not quite as clean as I'd prefer.

it's been a month and a half and I'm still waiting for items to arrive from the Ukraine. Seller is superdoc_2007.
his replies are quick, but he's also blaming the service on the postal office. I had to open up a case cause he kept saying 'this week' in his last replies.

This is the thing, it was really shady. He gave me a tracking number that doesn't really work. I put that number into the EMS international tracking site finally and get a short message stating that the item was shipped mid June. He listed it as shipped on beginning of June. Could be the post office, but I'm beginning to lose trust on this guy.
I'm not going to wait around while the resolution period expires either. His instructions to check the tracking number didn't really work either.
I think he just gave me some other random tracking number to my first message asking about the shipping. The shipping was expensive for what the item was too.
It almost happened once to me with a chinese seller. They were aggressive after the ordeal and wanted positive feedback after they screwed my order and wasted my time.

he may have internally posted in early june and it did not leave Ukraine untill mid june, which leaves about 4 weeks. This happened to me and it turned out that the item [ moskva 4] had been sitting in the local post office depot for two weeks waiting for me to pick it up, the mail notification had been posted on a very windy day and probably blew away. Many things can happen.

I have very good experiences buying from Russians/Ukrainians. I have bought from Grizzlybear, Petersburg Deals, Alekseykuz, and a Russian guy in Washington DC. Very honest and above board.
Items were as described or better. Very impressive packing in some cases, shipped promptly and arrived in three weeks or less, nothing went astray.

Trust me, I would really love to believe in his honesty, but after that last incident I think I would rather cover my bases by opening up a case before it's too late. If it's just a simple mistake in the problem lying in the shipping, I would rather not have to deal with the problem of the Ukrainian Postal services and buy from other Eastern Bloc countries.
