fuji 23/2...who's gonna buy it?

i love the 23/1.4 and yet i find myself liking the idea of the new 23...but only because it's smaller and would make a very compact street lens.
a small lens on an xe2...seems like a pleasant experience.
the 35/2 was priced very well for a quick buy...i wonder what the slower 23 will be priced at?
when i was shooting the canon p i had 3 different canon 35mm lenses (3 p bodies also)...

I think I'll continue to rely on my X100 for that FL in the digital realm. Plus I have a couple of 24mm MF lenses and the CV25mm which provide excellent alternatives when using the appropriate adapter on my XE2.

Not me. I'm not really interested in either of the new F2 primes, I'd much rather if they remade the older 1.4 designs with better AF motors and shrank them a little where possible.

Just saw the announcement. The 23/2 will be selling for $449 in the U.S.. And its weather resistant like the 35/2. In the picture it looks to be about the same size as the 35/2.

Doubtful but I never know. Have the 23/1.4. By the time I'm done selling and buying I'll have paid more for less or break-even at best. Size doesn't bother me. I seldom shoot the 23 and when I do I don't mind a day walking around with it.

I am very interested, at least in the concept. Will have to wait for the reviews though. I have the 27/2.8 and 35/1.4 FX's and also 24, 28, 28, 35 adapted lenses
Some day I wished they'd do a 28/f2.0 with an aperture ring. I'd sell of a few to get that.

If I didn't use the X100T as my go-to camera, I 'd order the 23/2.

I'm not planning on buying it...at least right away. Since I love the X100S with its fixed 23/2 so much and since I have the 23/1.4 (just about permanently attached to an XP1 body), I don't see me getting much use out of the new Fuji offering. I'm sure the new 23/2 will be an optical improvement over the X100S/T fixed lens but the camera/lens package of the X100 series is so perfect it's my most used piece of equipment. Of course, I also have the 35/2 and the 35/1.4 so anything is possible down the road.

I'll likely refrain. I've got the 27 and lately have been using the Voigtlander 25, which is great for zone focusing on the X-Pro.

Of course, I've said this many times before and caved, so who knows.

I have two X100(T) cameras and I'm not sure if I should go this route yet. Maybe used in a few months. Or just wait for the next X100. Since the cheapest Fuji (XA-3) just went 24mp, I would think the next X100 is going to be released very very soon.

Of course, I would love to have the 1.4/23, but it's too expensive for my taste (I am a somewhat tight-fisted when it comes to buying gear, no lens for more than €500 and no cam for more than €1500. Even with my Leica stuff that has worked out. Just my Df was a bit more expensive.)

So, this 2/23 could be the perfect compromise for me between the 1.4/23 and the manual 24mm lenses I sometimes adapt to my Fujis.

Doubt it.... 23 is not my tea.
I'm using the 18-55 and 55-200 as a tandem for events.
The 35mm f1.4 lives on a body when it's personal time.
The 50mm FOV is more my style.
I would like an updated fast 35mm but only if it's still an actual 35...
The rumored upcoming f1/30mm lens sounds interesting but..... a 35/40mm actual Fl would be better 🙂

I always told myself that a 23/2 WR would be what it took to get me to replace my NEX gear with Fuji, but I ended up jumping the gun when the 35/2 was on sale a while back. Now I'm not so sure I'll pick up a 23, I'm enjoying getting used to a 50mm-e after years of not using that FOV much. Besides, I have the odd little Fuji 24/8 if I really want the 35mm-e FOV.

Pre-ordered it first thing in the morning.

The x100T has been my go-to walk around camera since it was released and I love traveling with it, but now having a water resistant kit with the XP2 and both 35mm and 50mm focal lengths, this will be my new go-to travel set.

I especially like how both lenses use the same hood and filter size. This is an area Fuji has serious been lagging in compared to the other Pro brands. Their lenses primarily use the same filter size so you don't have to worry about buying dozens of different filters and/or step rings (all my old Canon L glass used 77mm filters. 5 lenses and I only needed 1 size filter for them all). Again, much nicer for travel.

While the images I've seen out of the 23 f1.4 are lust worthy, I could never be bothered to buy one due to the massive size. At least the f2 version puts it closer in line to the size of an x100.

Since the XP2 came out I've been using a 35 f2 and 18 f2 combo. I'm actually surprised at how much I've grown to like the 28mm FL, but at the end of the day, I'm more comfortable with 35mm and prefer the weather sealing/faster focus. The 35mm and 50mm combo was one I used for years with film cameras and covers nearly all situations I find myself in. So yeah, I'm looking forward to the new lens! Only bummer is it doesn't look like it'll be delivered in time for my European trip next month.

Only 'negative' I have is that I wish the lens was priced at $399, so $50 less. Minor quibble, but I think a $399 price point is more reasonable.

I probably will unless there is a 27/2. And I would like an updated 18/2 with improved edge performance. 18/2 and 27/2 are a perfect kit.
