fuji 56 and now 50?

How do you like this?

I thought I didn't like it and then found out I was wrong. It's tough to use between f1.6 and f4 but after that it's tack sharp and focuses 1/2 lifesize.

My first look review of the 50 f2 can be found at :

Thanks for the write up on the 50. Looks like one to add to the list.

For your picture of the brick wall what software did you use to process the RAF file? LR automatically corrects distortion and that can not be turned off. The 23 f2 has quite a bit of distortion to it but it is hidden unless a RAF file is used in other programs.

Thanks,

Shawn

I bought a second hand 60/2.4 for the same reason I carried a 90mm Elmar-C when I used Leicas--I seldom used anything longer than 50mm and I saw no reason to buy a more expensive lens. Indeed, I carried that 90mm a lot and used it very little.

I've been impressed with the Fuji 60mm. It may not be blazingly fast with the AF but it's very sharp, well made, fairly small and the close focus capability makes it even more useful than I imagined. However, the Fuji 35/1.4 remains the longest focal length I use regularly. I can't see myself ever using a 75mm equivalent lens.

i played with the only copy of the 50 that the local pro shop received...they were told full stock is expected by the end of march.
as to the lens...very nice in the hand, small & light...my camera was in the car so i didn't take any shots with it.
sure is tempting to sell the 56 and 23 and get the newer/smaller versions.
but then i love those 2 lenses...i'd keep them all if i went even for just the 50.

Yes, I think it is a wonderful lens that has a great look and works well. Unfortunately, I don't do tests and it'll be awhile before I have finished examples since I'm working on other images.

Every time I think to buy the 50/2, I remember that I should save my money and master using my adapted Minolta SLR 50 instead. But the images look so nice, and I'd love to have a little superfast autofocus in my life.

Would love to see more pictures, once people have had a chance to take the lens out.
