What do you plan to use the 90mm for? Have you been missing a 135mm equiv lens while out photographing? Are you using your 56mm? Let your photography dictate your needs...

I have very little to no need for a 135mm apart for the very rare landscape. Not into headshots.
I'd rather carry an ~85/90mm equiv and crop to 135 if needed. I used the 56 in the same way when I owned it (landscapes and portraits), but at least it was a little more flexible in using around town, at family gatherings, or on the street. If I was forced to own one it would be the 56.
Really though, I'd rather not carry either lens because the shots I'd want the 85/90mm equiv for are generally so few and far between. I have to have a purpose or project in mind to bring a longer lens than ~50mm equiv.

for some reason I never got into 75mm, 85mm, 90mm focal length but I loved 135mm when I needed the reach from my 50mm.
it's all personal taste obviously but I like Don McCullin style, 28mm on main camera and 135mm on a 2nd when he cant get close or need the reach.

somewhere along the line i had a 135 lens...in the film days and i can't remember what camera system i was using at the time. i also had a 200 which got used more and a 100 that i loved...might have been the olympus...i now have the 56 (85) and that's a pretty good lens...i'd like to use it more but i am going through a 'wide' phase and the 16 never leaves the xe2 body that it's on.

I'm going with the 55-200 until further need demands otherwise.
With Reflex i use 85 and 100mm often. The 135mm lenses seemed to languish when i acquired them.
The fuji 55-200 with it's beautiful rendering and extremely effective IS is a great lens.
I usually dislike zooms but this one is a keeper.
In images I've viewed, the 100mm looks super for portraits. I'm not as excited about the 56mm as I was before it's release.
Thought I would want one but after trying in store it just seemed like another 50mm cropped to aps-c.
i would not choose either for "street" work or to use stopped down.... preferring the flexibility of an IS zoom.

I thought of Saul Leiter when I saw your post. Many of his best images, in my opinion, were made with a telephoto lens (I think he liked a 150). He used the telephoto to compress street photo subject matter elements. I like the way this compression of elements can make a normal street scene come across more like a still-life painting.
I typically go about my street photo walks with either a 28mm or 50mm-equiv. lens on the X-Pro1 or X-T1. But Leiter's work inspires me to try something different. So recently I've been trying out the XF 60 on the streets. If I find I can't get the kind of compression I'm wanting, I might try an adapted Nikon Series E 100mm (150mm equiv.). This Nikon lens is very compact; the XF 90 looks too big to carry around on the streets all day.

Not at all...I'm not sure why you think this. I asked a few questions thinking they were helpful and you didn't like that.
I'm a firm believer in picking focal lengths based on the photos I want to make. If I'm out photographing and I can't make a photo due to having the wrong lens, then I get the lens that allows me to make the photo the way I want. Somehow you took this as me not giving my thoughts (because it was in question form).
So then I just answered your "or / and" question... with "and."

When shooting a DSLR, I'm a fan of the 135 F2 for Canon EOS, so I'd be interested to try out the Fuji 90. Currently I have the 56 only. I'm really liking that lens so if I were forced to never have another telephoto lens, I could live happily enough with it.

The 90mm is probably a very good lens. It is, however, too short for my needs and taste.
I have the 56mm but when I need something longer, I prefer the adapted 135mm f/2 Zeiss.

If I had the question, I would always opt for the "and". In this particular instance I wouldn't care for either, but I do have a 12 and an 18. I would also do the 23 and the 35. I'm just a wide to normal kinda guy.
