Fuji B&W Films

Thanks to all those who replied.... This forum is terrific and to me these replies demonstrate this.

Thanks again, looks like I'll be buying some Fuji for this weekend 😀

I tested one 135/36 roll of Acros and I like this stuff. Too bad I can't find bulk 100' roll of Acros locally in Toronto, I'd buy one. My delta 100 bulk is almost finished, and it seems I like Acros better; if choosing from modern low grain emulsions. It is absolutly different from classical emulsions like ADOX or Agfa APX. Some people don't like T-grain emulsions at all.
IMHO, Acros is almost grainless, gives intersting tonality and wide range of negative densities. I didn't notice narrow latitude or something unusual under contrast light; I didn't try to shot very contrasty subject though.
I developed it in dual-bath developer (as any other film I use that I didn't soup in rodinal). Attached is an example of contrasty cloudless sunlight lighting in the noon, shot with SLR, sorry.

Eduard.

Edit: Did I mention attachment is one from NP 100 Acros test roll? I think, it obvious.

Usually, from what I've developed, and backed up on sources, that PMK and staining developers tend to be more grainy. Its the nature of accutance developers.

I'll have to try Acros in 120mm soon. I have a bunch of APX 100 and JandC 100 for slow shooting.

Yes they are but for some reason when printed on a condenser lightsource the grain is very fine. I can't remember exactly why but Gorden Hutchin's Book of Pyro explains it very well (which i don't have with me here in BKK). The tonal range is much greater and this is where the Fuji 400 lost out for me. Highlights block too easily and when you shorten the dev time the shadows become too muddy at least when compared to Tri X and even TMax 400.

You can get Acros in bulk from Megaperls in Japan. They give great service with a range of shipping options. Acros 100 in bulk will only be available until March 2007. Stock up! 🙂
