Interesting ... I wonder what the price point will be in comparison to the Fuji-branded packages?

The current Walgreens house brand film is indeed a rebranded Fuji, but in many cases the original Fuji-branded film is available cheaper.
 
The Walgreens color film sure looks like Fuji and they stopped selling Fuji in the green boxes. I wonder if they'll start carrying B&W. Well, it's a nice dream anyway. 24 exposure rolls of their 200 speed color in multi-packs are $1.50 or less per roll.

Unless somebody started making Konica film again, it's Fujifilm at Walgreens and Freestyle. Best guess: Neopan 100 and Neopan 400 at Freestyle. Just like the Arista Premium (or whatever it's called) is Kodak Plus-X and Tri-X. Hopefully the Fuji film will be in the same price range as the house brand Kodak films.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Walgreens to stock black & white film. Be thankful they have film at all. That won't last much longer either. The rack space alloted to film is shrinking everywhere I go.
 
If it is Neopan 400 I for one will be overjoyed ... depending on the Freestyle price of course! I seriously like Neopan 400 for low light shooting and have yet to find a 400 black and white film that matches it ... for me!

[edit] ... it does worry me a little that Fuji may be taking the same route here as Kodak with Tri-X! Do Fuji have kilometeres of the stuff they cant sell?

I really wish Freestyle would introduce an Arista slide film...how about some Provia 400X for $2 a roll? :D
 
bruin, now you're talking. Lets have some competition, now that we are down to two color film producers. Even if they are just re-labeling film, it would be a good thing. The big problem to me is the Realas and the Portras will not make it to Walgreens or Freestyle.

Did you read the link? "These products have been discontinued."

Unfortunately, Konica, Minolta (yes, before they merged, they both made film) and Mitsubishi no longer make film.

The remaining makers of color film are:

Kodak (USA, China)
Fujifilm (Japan)
Ferrania (Italy)
Lucky (China)

I do not believe there are any others left. Fujifilm had coating plants in the USA and (I think) the Netherlands, but I believe they have closed those all down now. Kodak does have plants in China still, I believe.

So if it says 'Made in China', it could be Lucky or Kodak.
If it says 'Made in Italy', it is Ferrania (which, by the way, stinks).
If it says 'Made in Japan', it is Fujifilm.
 
Does anyone know who still makes black and white film (various formats) in China? I'm interested to know whether film in the distribution pipeline is current or if it is the tag ends of discontinued production.

Lucky made B&W film in China, but I have heard that they stopped. Shantou Era did, but I have been told they stopped. I imported some at one time, it was very nice stuff. Shanghai did as well, I don't know if they still do.

I don't know of any other B&W film manufacturers in China.
