Fuji film stock coming to an end?

Ted, since Kodak 120 is irrelevant to you, I'm curious what film you do shoot. Do Fujifilm's discontinuations stand to impact your film shooting? Honestly trying to understand the goal of your posts...

I bought 600 rolls of Acros 120 while that film was in its death throes. For higher speed I shoot Ilford Delta 400. I have 60 rolls of Fuji 400H in the freezer so that's my go to film for color. When that is gone, I am done with color film.

Given the continued discontinuations, that would certainly be prudent. You don't want to end up in an Acros situation where you have to scour the world for the last remaining rolls. Lay up a reasonable stock, buy more as you shoot, and use on a FIFO basis.

I can agree with stocking up to hedge. But for someone who has 600 rolls of Acros stocked up, yet hasn't shot a single frame of film this year (by his own admission) it sure seems like a lot of belly-aching. 🙄

I wish I had laid up a stock like that of Agfa Portriga paper. It would have lasted me a lifetime, which is the point.

Yes I did and it tasted fine. I think my shipment expires in 2019. It's in the freezer, mostly off site as I have nowhere near that kind of space. Acros is the only film I shoot except in rare circumstances. I am good for many, many years.

I didnt photograph the whole stash, as it came in waves...and as I said, I moved most of it out of my house. I have around 100 rolls in house with the rest in friend's, parent's, sister's freezers. Below is just one shipment that came in.

I'm honestly surprised there is no talk about the Poster Fuji hung up in the official Fujifilm Gallery in Roppongi Hills last week during an exhibition of select photographs on Acros saying (roughly): Fuji is currently evaluating releasing a new B&W film.

Also, Fuji reps have recently been heard saying that they are prepared to be the last one standing in the film business.

Really it seems to me more that Fuji is focussing on their core lineup of films (slide, 400h, superia xtra, with regrets about discontinuing all B&W film and simultaneously raising prices to keep the production sustainable.
Fuji, to me at least, seems to be making reasonable business decisions and is probably a well managed company.

Indeed. Fujifilm is certainly well managed. You never hear that company referred to as a zombie corporation the way Kodak is, even today.

I would agree...Fuji is well managed...despite what those few who kept claiming they stopped making film years ago think.

Since Fuji stopped making instant pack film (that I bought regularly) I haven't had any real need of anything from them. I buy Ilford fp4, hp5, Kentmere 100, and Kodak XX now. I'll be experimenting with ORWO UN54 for B&W slides as soon as I can get my hands on a 400' roll. Sadly there isn't much time these days to get out to use the cameras anyway......
