Fuji gw 690 III top plate removal.

Anyone knows how to remove the top plate of the Fuji GW III series camera?

Hi Wim,

I know this is late but I just saw this thread today.

According to the service manual:

- cock the shutter (not absolutely necessary but recommended)

- use a piece of rubber sheet (I imagine they mean something like thick neoprene) to grip and unscrew the shutter release assembly (button, surround and something that looks like either a small washer or an o-ring in the diagram)

- remove the advance lever, stopper (like a washer with a long tab) and shutter shaft (looks like a small pin)

- remove the 4 screws (front, back, each side)

- de-solder the wires from the hot-shoe contacts

Done!

There is a seller on eBay who sells spiral bound repair manuals for Fuji big rangefinders for about $20. I know they sell for the Fujica interchangeable lens models, and I believe I just saw one on the fixed lens II and III models earlier this week.

Yep, you are correct.

The tough part is the cap at the film advance lever. It can be stuck tight, and hard to crank off. There are no slots or grabbing points. Sometimes helps to squirt on some naptha to dissolve any corrosion .

Hi thanks,

I found it out myself, it wasn't to hard.

The only difference was that I did not need to solder the Hotshoe contacts, the are attached with tiny tiny screws.
