I'm in the market for a flash for a GW690iii, but I'm not too familiar with flases on MF cameras. Will any flash work? Do I need a PC cord?

It has a hot shoe and no electronics, so you can use pretty much any flash you want. A Vivitar 283 is a good option.

As long as you stay clear of current digital TTL only flashes, any flash that has a hot shoe or PC cord will do.

I use Nikon SB speedlights -- cheap but good. Vivitars (283, 285) are good for starters.

Like sevo said, you can use the hot shoe or a sync cable.

the idea here is if you want some sort of automatic exposure, you would want a flash with a thyristor, e.g. the aforementioned vivitar, sunpak 383, etc.

I have a Olympus T20 that looks great...nice ans small. I have no tried it yet but it should work fine...it was not much $$

Peace

Second vote for older Nikons, like the SB28, particularly because it's manual mode does the calculations for you onscreen.
