Fuji OEM Leica M mount adapter

Andy, I agree about the Hawk adapter not being very smooth on the helicoid action. However, I was surprised how solid it feels to use and I was able to roughly use the focus scale on the CV15 when aperture is set to f8.

I thought I heard mention of CV making a Helical adapter. Is this true (I can't find it on CameraQuest if it is true)?
I like the Hawks. The fit is nice and tight and works well enough. The Helical is not very smooth though and I think a bit poorly designed for long term use.

U did.. I posted a question about it to the head bartender a while back.. Now I don't even remember the thread.. Forgot to follow up w/ a pm.

I used my Leica 35mm Summicron with the Fuji M mount adapter. Was a piece of cake and took this shot with it:

Your vc 15 becomes a 22.5 (1.5x15) fov due to the apsc crop factor.

And I assume the f stop is multiplied as well? so f4.5 x 1.5 = equiv to f6.75?

What is the best f-stop setting and distance setting on the X-Pro1, any tips suggestions? and how about vignetting and colour casts?

And how do you compose with the X-Pro1 in OVF, is it possible? I mean the framelines, do they display that wide? I'm assuming so as Fuji has the 14mm f2.8 lens. But with a MF lens like the VC15 will it come up, or is this purely an EVF route?

very crisp image. which X-camera did you take it with?

is that with the 35 'cron ASPH or earlier non-ASPH version? and what f-stop was that taken with. any issues with focusing, did you use highlight peaking with zoom?

The crop does not affect F stop - your 4.5 is still 4.5 with respect to light gathering and metering. (This is ignoring the affect the crop has on depth of field - you get more depth of field w/crop) The M Mount will not give you 15mm Framelines, anything below 17mm has no lines. See the following for more....

Yes this is what I meant, so with a FF sensor at f4.5, the image captured is 4.5 DOF. But on an APS-C camera like the X-Pro1, set at f4.5 on the lens will create a photo with a DOF of f6.75, right?

This summary could help answer your questions.

I will say comaprisons for different sensor sizes are easier to think about if you keep the perspective - the subject to lens distance - constant.

The issues of vignetting, radial color shifts and detail smearing are highly dependent on the color filter array lens design and the lens design.

I am literally at the point where I am ready to buy the body.

I am considering buying an adapter or two and renting the X-E2 body to try some of my Leica/VC lenses on it... I really want to buy the body and lens I want while the instant savings is going on this month but it's December aka Xmas and my BDay and I've been dropping hints to Santa so it's possible that he might help me with the cost on it. So I am kind of in a wierd place here. If I buy the body and lens I want, I save $200. If I wait, I don't save any money but might have a little money to spend on the gear afterwards.

And the adapters are going to cost me $200ish. I still don't know which to get so I may try two that seem to get the most votes and recommendations. I use my VC 15mm super wide a lot on the RF cameras, it's the lens that lives on my R4A all the time. So I am very curious to play with it on the new body.

It appears to be about a 21-22mm equiv with an adapter, which stinks since I like the super wide aspect. Which makes me wonder if there's going to be a wider Fuji lens coming that is same as 15mm on the Leica M/R4A... I've read that there's a super wide zoom coming that's something like 10-25mm or something.

I've got my VC 35/2.5 which I think I'm going to replace with a 40 SC or MC VC lens... and then I have to wonder how much I'll use my Leica glass, VC glass vs native glass on this body.

Man this is just too much to think about. Can someone else do the thinking for me? Geesh.

I read that yesterday (or this morning I can't remember)... looks like its going to be $999 and similar to my 15mm up to my around 35-40mm? other lenses on my Nikon gear.

I took the plunge and purchased my X-E2 and the 18mm lens today. I need to sink my brain into this adapter thing and figure out which one I want to try first for the body so I have more lens options. All my Leica and VC glass need Fuji love too.

The Fuji one is tempting but the others are also tempting. It's easy to talk about when it's far away but now it's here and I need to make a decision and suddenly it's all swimming in my head, all that info.

Having purchased many adapters of many flavors over the years, I can say that the quality of the "more affordable" types has increasingly become "less acceptable." I think that there has been a rush of late to get a lot of product to market faster and the quality has suffered. When I would have highly recommended the cheapies in the past, I can no longer advise purchasing them. Now, more than ever, you truly get what you pay for with these adapters. So, today, do not jump in the pool -wait, save, whatever -but buy the best that you can.

I am definitely one of those people who will spring for the better quality higher priced device if I need to. I've purchased a lot of "cheap junk" and learned many lessons with a price tag attached.

In this particular situation, it's really a matter of the Rayqual vs the Fuji for me... I may try both, but the Rayqual is not in stock at the moment. I guess I should have purchased them back when I was first looking, since i knew what camera I was getting. This way I'd have them ready to go now lol.

X-E2 is in hand, finally. I have the Fuji 18mm lens and am waiting for one of the adapters to arrive so I can try all my Leica/VC/FSU glass.

I think I'm going to try the Fuji adapter possibly if the Rayqual isn't in stock soon. Worst case I find a lens it works best with and use that, or sell it someone else.

Having precise infinity focus matters if
- u scale focus/zone focus
- u need to focus close
--- the more u are off inf focus point, the more close focus u will loose

So long as no jiggles and not off centric, u should be ok.
