I'm also wondering what is the reason for not displaying in the OVF the custom frame lines set in the menu.
Otherwise they will not sell this adapter.

Precisely, that's where there may be some problem. If I read carefully the DP review announcement, it seems given its wording even with this adapter it may only display in the OVF the frame lines for the non custom settings (21, 24, 28 & 35).
On Fuji's own website, they say "The frame may not be displayed for lenses of particular focal lengths". Now, I might just over interpret those two sources, but I'm already bracing myself for yet again a storm of Fuji quirkiness.
I'm a bit confused. Too many questions unanswered.

Well never mind : we're at worst a few weeks away from a firmware upgrade and the first deliveries of this adapter, so the wait won't be long.
I wonder if this adapter will create a mini surge of M8 sales?
My M9 will be sold soon...

The best camera is one that still works!
My M9 will be sold soon...(but not because of the adapter).
I'm shocked .. . seriously!

It's odd that the 35/2 mk4 isn't one of the first to be catered for (unless it's perfect as it is

Nor is the 35/1.4 ASPH on there, either. But this is just a list of lenses "verified." The adapter comes with a gauge to check compatibility. I assume that this is in part to prevent people from clobbering the sensor with the back element of a Jupiter-12...
It will be interesting to see if any of the more expensive M adapters (Novoflex, Rayqual, etc.) drop in price.
In other news, Rainbow Imaging told me yesterday that the Konica AR adapter for the X-Pro will be available next week.

It says it passes information in OVF mode...does that mean it will somehow confirm focus?

how is one supposed to focus in ovf mode? just zone focus?

Focus confirmation would be adapter independent, I guess it just passes the information which frameline to display.

Yeah, the framelines seem completely worthless unless you're zone focusing. And who will do that for anything higher than 28?
I would like this a lot anyway if you can create custom vignetting profiles for lenses not on the list.
It's kind of a shame, though. This still seems to depend on the EVF, and the EVF is the only disappointing thing about this camera, for me.

I think the manual focus on the xpro is terrible, haven't had it long and may be doing it wrong, but compared to a film RF it's horrible.
If the MF is as bad as I think, it wouldn't change with this adapter and an m-mount - right?

I think you can imagine why... I guess I've come to find that I like close focus, high ISO, in camera sensor cleaning, auto-focus, etc. I just never liked SLRs much, so the M9 was logical choice last year. However, the X-Pro1 is really just that good that I don't use my M9 anymore. Plus, I'm really getting offended by Leica's pricing of the revised M9 versions and its lenses. They've passed by my comfort level for spending and I'd like to get as much cash back as possible from the M9 purchase.

Perhaps there is something that we don't know? There seem to be many unanswered questions. I doubt they'd say it works with the OVF if it is framelines only. I guess we will find out soon.

I find zone focusing with a 28 difficult. I would have to go wider, personally. Just not good enough / fast enough at zone focusing anything other than 25 and under.
As they are touting the use of the ovf with adapted lenses, I would hope that there is a focus means available other than zone focusing for use with the ovf. But, if there were, then I would have thought it would have been announced with the rest of the adapter info.
All that said, the fuji 35/1.4 is so damn good that I don't see using my uc hexanon in its place on the camera. And, I don't own any other 35mm m-mount lenses or wider m-mount lenses.

Good reasons ... fair but without bashing the product!
