Fuji sucks

You're not going to have much luck with the CM unless you have an extra one to cannibalize. I sold mine after learning that some key components contained EU banned substances, thereby stopping the production of the parts. They couldn't fix the things a mere 6 months after production ceased. Very disappointing as it's a fantastic little camera!
 
Imagine if your camera slipped out of your hands and you had to retrieve it from the ceiling?

That would be far more annoying ... at least with gravity you know exactly where it's going to go! 😀

The eu band was known to all manufactures way ahead of the ban date. It gave plenty of time to find component changes. I remember a product I worked on plus others that our company went thru in terms of component analysis replacement. I suspect they used much older components that no third party thought was worth while going thru the recertification process any longer.

I hate the expression 'sucks', I really do. And as for Fuji, I think they are fantastic. Fuji Australia repaired my X100 with a speed dial problem twice and then replaced the whole camera. The lenscap and the bottom plate of the original had clear signs of at least one skirmish with gravity.

The number of times I've seen similar messages written in public toilets is scary. I once thought of doing a project of shooting such messages every time I saw one, but getting out a camera in some putridly smelly cubicle would be the last thing on my mind.
 
I've got a Fuji DL Supermini zoom that looks like it's been kicked around the yard for an hour. It groans and moans when I zoom in and out. It's had a hard life, but it still works and produces excellent pictures. I don't think Fuji sucks, just that you were unlucky.
 
The Klasse cameras are Japan market only. Most fujifilm service centers out of Japan probably won't have even seen on before. Not really fujifilms fault as a company.

Send it to fujifilm Japan and they'll fix it for you.
 
I have to agree with the observation that you can not fault Fuji for not supporting a market they do not sell the product in. Ricoh does not support the US for the GRD line. I made the decision to buy one anyway. It broke (GRD 1), the folks in the US who do repair the GRD wanted TOO much IMHO to fix it. I purchased a GRD III and love it. I wish Ricoh saw the US as a market they would thrive in but they don't.

They should have warned you that it would cost to get the camera back if you do not have it fix.

I don't know what this means except in the literal sense.

Anyway, if I wasn't constantly dropped as a child, I might not be constantly dropping my cameras.

It's true - it's a matter of luck and my own fault.

Please do not appoligize for the language you used. Your english is SOOOOOO much better than my spanish, dutch, chinese or korean. Perhaps my COBOL (computer language) or IBM Assembler is better than my english but it's been years.

You used the right word for how you felt. I'm just trying to point out that some times we all need to look at the big picture. Please do not feel that you can not vent a bit here from time to time. Never at other members, compaines are OK and I should say you did not even come close to crossing the line.

It's hard when you feel you have been wronged to look at things in perspective. But this is one of the best places to come for ideas, suggestions and a chuckle when this sort of thing happens.

Many of us have been there. I dropped a Nikon Coolpix 900 from about three feet onto a wood deck, broke the focus stop in side. Fixing it cost about 2/3s of a new Coolpix of the same family. I get frustrated about companies not building cameras that are as robust as they were years back.

Hang in there and please let us know how you make out breathing new life into her.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I appreciate it greatly and it's probably the kind of pat on the back I was looking for. In retrospect, I was just very upset at having lost around $1000 in two cameras in the span of one month, and only after putting one roll of film through each. My knee jerk reaction was to direct my anger elsewhere, even though I have plenty directed at myself.

To the OP, for sure Fuji Japan can fix the Klasse S. Send it to Bellamy and he'll take care of it. There's a very good chance he can sort out your CM as well. If I remember correctly, Bellamy was telling me just last weekend that Kanto Camera Service still repairs the CM, and even makes their own parts if they're no longer available from Leica.

Hi, I contacted Bellamy and just wanted to correct this- he was saying that the CL can still be fixed by Kanto, not the CM.
