Nice thread.
The black x100 looks awesome, saw one the other day on the streets, looked so much sexier than my chrome one.

One of the times (and there are not as many as you may think) when the Japanese meaning and the Chinese meaning are not similar.
Kanji/ (日本)漢字 means 'Chinese charcter', each Kanji took from China is used as the same meaning in China,
佗, tou, wabi,
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/佗

寂 ji, sabi
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/寂

When modern designer put two or three Kanji together, that's a different 'ball game' in meaning, but still one can still figure out what it may mean...
Kanji '写真', sha-shin, writing-truth, a photograph. a Chinese may not know what shashin means, but knows it's 'writing-truth'...

Modern Japanese used more and more 'gai-rai-go' '外來語' (same characters in Chinese and Japanese kanji) or 'foreign language' as a trend now.

Lots of Kanji, katakana gairaigo here, Best Electronics in Sapporo,

This thread is stoking the GAS fire thats burning in my back pocket right now. Good grief, Joe, do you have to make the black X-E1 looks so darn appealing?!

Yes, I had to drill a hole on the grip's plate aligned to the x100s' tripod socket so I can secure the grip using a regular tripod nut.
