Got ya. I don't even like DSLRs and I even find the MKIII to be desirable. $4,000 is a lot, but it'll last you a long time.

Nice, Gentry!
I'm curious, what does the warranty card say? Is it international warranty?
Crap, I forget. I'll check later.

Wonderful! I should be getting mine by the end of this week.
Did you order from that place in Kaohsiung? Or some other place (I guess so, since you mention the lens coming from HK).
I ordered the lens from Digitalrev

Well, it's now available at my camera shop - in Edinburgh, Scotland - and I'll get mine either this Thursday, or Friday. Looking forward to using it!

It's available now in Italy, maybe I'll give a look. And what if it should happen that I like it ?

It seems to be reasonably widely available in the UK today - I should get my body and 35mm from Wex on Thursday, and the Jacobs nearest to me in London have two bodies and all the lenses in stock. They also have the X100 for £699, which is £300 less than I paid for mine - but that's the price of being an early adopter!
I was surprised by how compact the lenses are in real life - not that different to "real" rangefinder lenses. If things work out with this system I'm heading for some serious pruning of my gear cupboard.

My prediction is that you will go on a culling frenzy. Can't wait to see some of the other lenses they're coming out with.

I think you're right, although I do have a lot to cull - I'm about to stick the M8 and 28mm Elmarit (unused since I bought the X100) up for sale. Once the 23mm comes out I can get rid of the X100. If the standard zoom is half decent I can sell all my micro 4/3 "travel kit", and so it goes on....
I'll probably hang on to my Nikon DSLR kit but I'm not convinced I'll be using it much.
Should get me some brownie points with the wife

Sounds excellent. I'm waiting for that 12-24 zoom with great anticipation

I've become slightly anxious about the my X-Pro1 preorder now that I've sent my X100 on to a new home. Oh, what have I done—the X100 is such a great camera. Hopefully doubling-down on the X-Pro1 will turn out to be a reasonable 'gamble'.

Got mine a couple of days ago. With the 35mm lens that came to apx. $3390, which is retail here in Norway.
No extra batteries here yet either. Nor the case, but all the lenses have arrived. Think I'll stick to the one lens for this camera anyway.

Up until now, I haven't had any serious X-Pro1 fever (since I have other cameras to use)... but today, for some reasom, it hit me. I'm ready! I had a premonition that the lenses will arrive by boat in the US today.

Once the camera arrives in your hands, this whole waiting period will become a distant memory, a blip on the screen. No doubt you're really gonna love it and use it over a much longer span of time that will make the wait seem trivial. Hope it arrives soon in the hands of all those who want it. I just don't think you'll be disappointed.

I thought this would be something I'd enjoy owning, but the more I see of it, the less I want it now. For that money I'd prefer something more responsive or capable of focusing mf glass through focus peaking or similar assists. Sony's nex-7 looks like a more attractive digital option actually.

Just picked it up from Henrys in Oshawa. Battery is charging as we speak....
Apparently they got two, I am not sure but I think the second is a store demo.

Damn, Canada beat the US with stock? Happened with the X100 too.

Well then they're better than the London North store. They had an nex-7 but wouldn't take it out of the box for me to look at because they only got a couple in. How do you decide if you want it if you can't try it out???
