Fuji X-Pro1 due on March 20?

I don't have a MBA and I've avoided working in a corporate environment - but it feels like Business 101 in the Apple era to set a hard release date to build interest and then meet that date.

Throw in some direct communication between Fuji international, Fuji USA and big accounts for good measure.

You could say the opposite. Give an ambiguous release date and build chatter online / drama.

Angry consumer are usually appeased once they have the thing they want in their hand

Tough comparison with Apple also as they know they need to meet a much much higher number of units in those first days and weeks and to be off could mean about a half billion dollar/day oops. They sold about 750k ipads/day at release.

Betcha if Fuji thought they would move that many units, they would make a big splash re: release date also.

(As a side note, thanks to everyone on this forum for all the information I've been soaking up while lurking, and for making me not feel like a junkie as I refresh the forum every second or so looking for a "Cameras are here" post.)

We got word from Fuji earlier this week that the cameras "should be shipping this week." But with Fuji's history with this camera and keeping on schedule with their intended dates...

What other dates have they missed? To my knowledge Fuji has not disseminated any information other than 'USA at the end of March' and it appears they are keeping to that date.

Now if Fuji did it like Apple, they'd be shipping to the stores now, they'd allow enough time for every dealer across the country to receive them, and then they'd all be for sale at 8am next Friday. :)

Fit with your Kipon on body?

It fits nice and tight. Focus is similar to a manual SLR. It'll take a little getting used to do it quickly, but so did traditional rangefinder focusing. Here it is with the Summicron 50/2 DR (yeah I can mount this lens on this camera!)

Chris,

That's with the Kipon adapter? Did you use the EVF to focus (i.e. like how you would if you were "close" focusing?)

Cheers,
Dave

Yeah, I just used the EVF to focus, but it was only in the "normal" focusing range. I found it reasonably easy. If you press the wheel, it'll magnify the EVF, so you can focus in on a point. I think with a little practice it'll be as quick as an optical RF.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh... so THAT'S what that wheel is for *LOL* :)

Even though I THINK I've read the manual it's clear I really haven't RTFM *LOL*

Thanks Chris - I think I'll order that Kipon while waiting for Fuji to get theirs out there.

Cheers,
Dave

Τhere's a few ebay shops selling the kipon adapter, all in Hong Kong from what I can tell, I ordered with one of them 20 days ago and it's still in transit

where did you guys get yours from and how long did it take?

Lol. I'm still learning all the feature too. Pressing a wheel certainly is not intuitive.

Have you tried the double exposure setting?

I got mine from the seller, bondscamera, on ebay who is out of Hong Kong. It took 10 calendar days to arrive.
