Me too. It doesn't have to be M-mount. I'd be perfectly happy with two Fujinon lenses.
But I think M-mount would get a lot of converts from the R-D1 people as well as people wanting to move from film M-mount to digital but not having an affordable body.
An M6 and an X100 in my bag would be a good combination.

Keith, that Pentax Q is an odd bird, innit? $800 for a camera with a dinky teeny tiny point and shoot sensor. This thing might have been briefly interesting before micro 4/3 came out. I mean why wouldn't one just get a ep-2? about the same price, right? Seems like a weird step back to me... and, imo, kind of ugly to boot!

The LCD won't go away... it's the biggest marketing aid and largest draw there is for digital photography. If photographers weren't able to look at their shots immediately and had to wait until downloading them into a computer, that would have been the end of it.

BTW, I turned off the "image review" feature in my D700 and my P7000. Don't need, don't want it, don't use it, don't care.

Though must admit it's come in handy a couple of times. 🙂

I actually like the Q, but cannot see how this would a be an indication of what the world wants and why Fuji will make an interchangable lens model... the Q is no different from all the other mirrorless cameras that came before it (except the small sensor).

How on Earth is the Pentax innovative? They took the Micro 4/3 concept, then skimped on the execution. It's innovative in the way that watered down Kool Aid is an innovation over normal Kool Aid.

Fuji will bring out a 28mm equivalent. That's the widest thing the company has believed in for decades.

Of course who knows but I personally think they will come out with more fixed lens versions. Like some people already said, it would fit with their medium format models, the older models as well as with the later fuji gf670 and gf670w.

I don't pixel peep too much but if you do zoom in 100% on the X100 files, you can see some of the benefits of having that lens fixed and the sensor/software optimized. I see less artifacts and more sharpness than on my D700 with a 35mm f2. Somebody posted a test once comparing a Sigma dslr and the DP1, and the DP1 was also sharper in that test.


Like with my RF645 I think the 28mm and 40mm (or 50) is an incredible combo and I would just go out with both of them and shoot. No changing of lenses, just the two cameras ready to shoot. If I get to have only one, 35mm is great. If there are more, I'd definitely go for the 28+40 combination if it was there.

I totally get people would like see an interchangeable lens version to use their Leica or Zeiss lenses on a Fuji though. But for me personally I wouldn't need it. I would not protest to either development though. 🙂

Well, since we're talking radical and retro, and since we may not ever get interchangeable lenses, what about a pair of high quality supplementary slip-on lenses that give equivalent focal lengths of 28 and 50 when placed over the prime (equivalent) 35mm?
We used to use them, and with the big sensor the IQ might not suffer too much at all by comparison, with M43 for example.
No changes required to lens automation or other features, no changes to the OVF/EVF, no changes to maximum aperture, less expensive than primes and smaller and lighter.
Just sayin'.

I think that would be a nice solution for the X100 we have now for sure.
I wouldn't mind dedicated lens versions though, with the sensor and processing optimized for that particular lens.

Yes, I meant something like that. Are those real examples or something made up in Photoshop?

No that's from a local magazine. It's difficult to read at this size and it's not the whole article but I think these were not out yet, but coming in the near future.
That 0.7 wide looks ok, but I've seen tests in another magazine here and you'll definitely get some curves. Perhaps easily corrected, I don't know.
These are around ¥10.000~12.000, which would be roughly $125~150.
