Using Lightroom with prints set for 300 dpi, I've regularly printed cropped 12 Mp images to 12x18 using an Epson R3000. They look great, even close up. I have one cropped 12x18 that was about 1/2 of a full 8 Mp image that looks good at normal viewing distance. Viewed with your nose touching the print and a loupe to your eye and you'll see the limitations but that's not "normal".
The guidelines on how large you can print based on sensor size are just guides, not laws set in stone.

Looks like a very nice example! In case you're new to the x100, I'd advise two things (which will be very obvious, if you're not new to it 😉):-
Get a couple of spare batteries.
Make sure that it's on the latest firmware update (2.11), for the best AF performance.
Other than that, just enjoy it. I've had mine since 2011, and it's still a great delight to own, and to use. 🙂Make sure that it's on the latest firmware update (2.11), for the best AF performance.

As it arrived yesterday, I already ordered/received a Fuji Hood ($20) used at KEH), a pair of Wasabi batteries and two UV filters (one cheapo to remove the glass) and a B+W F-Pro.
Already tested the OCF gear and plan to verify the Firmware today ��

The original X100 - with updated firmware - is still the only digital I'm interested in owning, even in 2017, irrespective of cost.
IMO the "improvements" on subsequent models are of questionable value and only seem to water down the original concept.

I was of the same idea, but eventually I decided to sell it. Partly to shoot more/only film, partly because I could not figure either auto-focus or 'zone focus' out when using it for street and I was often disappointed with the result. (everything else and particularly things that do not move fast it was fine / very nice colours, nice black and white).
I thought also I wanted to make room for a digital Leica, but I have not pulled the trigger yet.
Not sure if the subsequent models of Fuji have improved the experience to justify the increased cost.
