Anyone have any comments or samples of the tele-converter used on the X100?
It's difficult to find much info although there are a few comments and samples on Fuji Forum.

How is the handling? Is image Sharpness effected ?

The lens looks large, but it's really not so bad. Plus, it's not at all heavy, so I don't have a problem with it being attached to the camera and carrying it around my neck. Mind you, I'm used to a Monochrom with a 0.95 Noctilux, so most anything else would be lighter!

a few for you TCL on x100
IMO its on par with the 35mm on the x100 for quality, a pinch to large for me but certainly easy enough to work with on the street and I typically take off, throw in my jacket pocket for 35mm only and back on when needed. cost is fair.... all in all gets me more value out of my x100. Thanks!

For some time I have been seriously tempted to sell my X-Pro 1 and a few lenses and switch to the X100T and both teleconverters. The entire kit seems easy to carry and I have yet to read a negative report about the teleconverter performance.

The only thing holding me back is it seems silly to go through the hassle and spend bit $600 just to make the change. I may have finally out grown swapping gear for entertainment purposes.

If my X-Pro 1 became lost, stolen or ruined, I would replace it with the X-100T/two teleconverter system as soon as the Amazon Prime could get the box to my house!

It's easy to forget the original X100 was a marketing experiment.

The lens is somewhat unique. For one thing the lens rear element to sensor distance may be the shortest of any APS-C or 24 x 26 mm camera. The sensor micro-lenses are heterogeneous. The micro-lenses are optimized to match differences in light-ray angles from the center to the frame edges. The optic design is not compatible with (very) close subject distances at apertures wider than F 4.

The lens can display odd ghosting from extremely strong point source lights (street lights, headlights) at certain angles. The corner sharpness improves slightly as the aperture decreases. Many budget lens filters can create reflection artifacts.

For my work. the lens performed well given its price point. The unpredictable point-source light ghosting in night scenes was the only real disadvantage for me. So, I did not find "a 'unsharpness' with the f2/23 mm lens at the edges and corners" to be an issue. However, I did not use the camera for landscape photography, architectural work, highly cropped or rather large prints.

Thanks for the replies all. The samples look very good.

I handled an X100T and TCL yesterday. It's not as heavy and unwieldy as it looks.
Although not exactly light....I was surprised actually how little weight it adds to the x100.
I'm searching for a leaf shutter option for higher sync speeds.
Short of Fuji dropping a leaf shtter lens on us for the x-sytem ...This may be it.
I wish for a XF 60mm f2 or f2.8 leaf shutter lens 🙂

hmmm, I had a portrait session over the weekend and had the X100 w/ TCL and A7 w/ CV 50mm with me.
I kept reaching for the X100 and am very happy with the output

to my, and many other, eyes there is an IQ difference between the original x100, which was not an xtrans sensor, and the rest of the series which are all xtrans. personally, i find the original sharper across the frame. i also find xtrans generally dies very poorly reproducing detail in green backgrounds, like in typical landscapes.

Has this ghosting effect been improved or eliminated in the 100s and 100t ?
I have seen it many times in my X100, to the point that I simply don't attach any filters to the lens.

EDIT: I understand that using high grade 8-layer muli-coated filters will probably reduce this effect. My question gets down to.... if I put a filter that creates "ghosts" on the X100 on an X100s/t will the ghosting effect still occur? FWIW, I cannot get the ghosts using the same filters on a fuji 27mm / XE1 setup. So my conclusion is that it's the X100 lens that is the culprit. Or has the X100s/t somehow fixed this?

It is specific to the X100 for sure.

As far as I know the X100 (S&T) have one of the shortest rear-lens element to sensor distances in existence. I speculate this is the reason the X100 series is so sensitive to filter ghosting.

I never used a S or T, but I'd be surprised if the issue was not present for the newer models..
