Fujifilm X-E3 Details Released

The XE3 is a nice upgrade but I am keeping my XE1. Been shooting with it a lot lately,an I am still amazed by the quality of this camera paired with the "kit" zoom lens. And I picked up an Xt1 so my GAS is sated for now.

No disapointment here.
After years of only seeking higher magnification vf's, I've come to appreciete the lower mag for wider lenses.
Fuji has options at wider and closer mag vf. That too is great for the system.
I'll be pairing the xe3 with a 27mm mostly.... x.62 will be super.
Really happy To have waited for this. It's minimalism is great.

The x-e2 with the 27mm was my favourite combo.

i have and still use xe1...xe2 bodies...the 27 stays on my first xe1 and is an everyday carry and it works just fine...i have been using the 23/35/50 with 2 xe2 bodies and it's still a light load and more than enough for getting some good shots...
but i think the xe3 is going to be a great camera if it's anything like the xt20...especially in size...

I see very little other than the sensor to warrant an upgrade.

True to a point.

The XTrans III sensor uses Aptina's dual-gain technology which improves image quality (S/N) in low light (ISO 800 and above).

This would be attractive to those who often shoot in low light and already own X-Series Fujinon lenses and, or a XE-1 body.

The other benefits (besides pixel density) involve AF performance and other functions that depend on in-camera CPU upgrades. The XE-3's AF improvements will be useful to take advantage of the AF motor technologies in the newest Fujinon lenses.

I would imagine the smaller size and faster AF in low light might appeal to some as well.
It's smaller, but not significantly smaller, particularly when you put a lens on it. The other nice touch is the AF joystick. Just not enough for me to upgrade from my XE2. XE4 maybe.🙂

Oh I agree... I actually like the XE2 shape better, but I can see some updates in the XE3 that are nice. That said, I'll stick to the X100F, X-T2, and X-Pro2... since I already have too many.

I purchased my X-Pro2 in July last year, and have been using it week-on-week almost exclusively in the EV mode and the Acros simulation setting.

The X-E3, with its uprated sensor, is attractive to me as a second body but its lack of weather sealing is a big turn-off.

My X-Pro2 has been out in some really inclement weather down to -20C and has got soaked in the process, particularly with the 16 and 35mm WR lenses. The X-Pro2’s ability to carry on working all day in the wet and cold without a hitch has impressed me.

I’d be circumspect about the X-E3’s capability in such conditions. Other than this, the X-E3 is a worthwhile update: its lack of a tilt screen doesn’t bother me, as I have never found the need for this facility with the X-Pro2. Ditto the lack of an in-built flash.

l admit l am a bit of a luddite, among other Fujis l have an XE-1 and l am quite happy with it, it has my Fuji 18/2 permanently attached to it, my 35/1.4 home being my X Pro-1. I am more than happy with this set up, it suits my needs. My sons often raise their eyebrows at my reluctance to constantly upgrade, l still own and use a Nokia 3310, my laptop should be in a museum and when they see me out shooting film ..........😱

I wonder what Nikon and Canon are going to come up with in the pro level mirrorless digital camera department? Something full frame I hope.
