Don't shoot until you see the whites of their eyes!
In Japan it's not uncommon for two trains to run very close to each other. Riding the Tozan line in Hakone this was the closest I've ever been to another train car. Both trains were heading for a switchback.

Thank you for the kind words. We literally scrambled on public transportation with one evening left in San Fran to make sunset. As I arrived and saw what was there, I felt like an artistic director had been there ahead of us, choreographing these folks into position.

A lucky encounter for sure, but that's why it's always good to have a camera on-hand/in-hand! 🙂

The success of a number of these shots seems to be due partly to the improvements of the latest X100 version; partly the photographer; but partly also to what seems to be a magnificent light in that part of the world. Nice work, Mike.
