This might be the nicest looking P&S since the film P&S cameras of the 90s (Contax, Nikon, Leica, etc.). While there is no VF, if this has a 1" sensor (or at least the X10 size sensor) and that lens completely retracts, I think I may have found my digital P&S.

Since the X-Pro 1 is mostly referred to as the XP1, they'd better choose the other naming option, XF1!

Not interested... I like Fuji's layouts and menu system on its other X series cameras. Never been a huge fan of Sony cameras.

Yes, I believe you are right. At least it's still bigger than the typical P&S sensor even if it's not the 1" sensor.

As a not Fuji user, all I can say is....they should be applauded for addressing our market. I am impressed.

i'm happy with the x10. sure it can be improved, but i find it is indeed 'pocketable', and most importantly, it has a viewfinder.

The RX menu is quite good. Arguably better than the X100 and X-Pro1 (both of which I have owned.) And the sensor on the RX is great.

Thanks for this... I think my judgements being clouded by the Fuji's looks. 🙂 I guess I meant I'm more used to Fuji (and Leica) menus. It's good to hear Sony didn't f up the menu like they usually do. Perhaps they knew it would be taken more seriously by pros / serious amateurs if they didn't muck up its menus with consumer modes.

Looks practical and design is in good balance. More elegant than common p&s and gives feeling of quality. Must admit Fuji deserves some love.

Very nice looking indeed.
I can see it being priced quite competitively if they use the same sensor as the X10.

One nitpick I can see already is that the FN button won't be operable with one hand without some dexterity. Then again that button is a damn help menu on the RX100. :bang:
