Hi all,

Of all the early speed kings, the Fujinon 50mm f1.2 ltm is honestly the only one I like (going off Flickr, that is) and I'd like to add it to my bag one day.... though unfortunately only one is for sale right now for 11,000!

Which brings me to this eBay listing for a TV-mount copy that was converted to M-Mount at one time, listed at 3,100:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fujinon-50...305389?hash=item56b2fff16d:g:Nv4AAOSwvPZbTBQO

I'm curious if anyone can provide any literature about how similar/different the glass/rendering is for these two lenses? Or has anyone had experience with this lens in the TV-mount?

Thanks for any leads.

In the past, I've seen Fujinon 50 1.2 TV lenses sold at around $500 and $700. $3100 definitely is a fishing price. I once find the TV lens in a camera show and hold it in hand. I thought it is smaller than the LTM version, and I doubt it can cover full frame.

Fujinon 50 1.2 LTM is an excellent lens. I've spent eight years looking for this lens, and finally, I found one last year. In my opinion, it is the best lens among the four kings of Japanese super-speed lenses back in the 1950s.

I suggest you should keep looking for the LTM version.

I was wondering about frame coverage, thanks for that.

I did see your post from last year, glad you were able to track one down. I think I'll have to wait for a beater copy to afford one.. we'll see.

It's somewhat disappointing that a lot of the excellent motion picture lenses have been butchered and shoehorned into various mounts so they can be used on SLRs, mirrorless, and Leica rangefinder cameras. There is one particular group that does most of this irreveersible modification, but a few others do as well. I understand using a lens from a broken fixed lens camera and sticking that in a different helicoid in order to use it on another camera, but it really stinks to permanently modify a perfectly fine motion picture lens. This simultaneously artificially inflates the value (and rarity) of these lenses in native mount and also inflates their value as a one-off for whatever mount they are squeezed into. I would have loved to shoot some 16mm through the various Cooke optics which were more commonly available in years past but many have been permanently altered so they no longer fit on any MP camera and their price has been set astronomically high because the optics have been set into a new helicoid, usually Nikon F mount or some FSU in order to focus on a Leica. It's like keychopping typewriters, I just can't abide.
Rant over.
