Fujinon XF 8mm f3.5 R WR lens - Images and Comments

Thank you, DownUnder, much appreciated!

Sorry to hear that the lens is so expensive where you live. I think that they are still reasonably priced here in Japan; Mapcamera (per their website) is selling them for $637.99USD at todays yen/dollar exchange rate.

All the best,
Mike

That is a great price. But still >US $1000 given the sad, sad situation with our Third World Aussie dollar. It should really be pegged at US$0.80+ but our glorious leaders pay heed to their business masters who want it low so they can sell more tat to the world, and we peasants must go along with this. One of the true realities of life down here.

After a second peruse (perusal?) of your photos, I find the distortion quite appealing and even appropriate in many images. For me as a retired architect it's really an acquired taste, but it serves its purpose in some situations. I do keep reminding myself that in real life all verticals do not necessarily have to be regarded as vertical. After all the eye often makes an auto-adjustment on this. I now must convince my brain to do the same.

Good work, please post more. To this reader your 'take' on living in Japan, visually and in words, is indeed interesting and at times fascinating. An informal travelogue illustrated and written by that best kind of author, one who lives there.

Fun on the street with the Fuji 8mm f3.5 lens!
SOOC, aspect ratio 9:16. The dog is less than 10 inches away from the camera!

Yeah, that’s crazy wide. Poor dog looks like he worried you expect him to eat the camera.
