comparing the pics to the one on cameraquest, look at the rewind lever...chrome center on the Ebay, and black on the cameraquest. Also looks like it has the film reminder dial off the chrome at photoethnography, too

I'd say a repaint. This is so not cool pawning it off as an original. At least the russian ones are really, really obvious.

As for telling the seller, I call NOT IT!

It was so matte finished it looks like a repaint immediately. In fact it sort of looked like one of the better Russian repaints.

I saw that bit chrome popping through too.

I wanted to use Gun Kote paint to do one of my FED 3s that way. Now I'm thinking OD.

My father had a BP VT deluxe that was really worn--The top showed brass, and the bottom was chrome underneath I think. It did have some shiny paint areas left and they were glossier than the one in the auction.

Heads Up!
All Canon P original factory Black Paint has a WHITE DOT in the self timer. I´m I wrong or this is a repaint?? I have a chrome Canon P and that lever looks like mine. I´m just curious to know your thoughts!

Yeah, repaint. I don't want to discount it, but chrome through the paint just sets off bells and whistles for me.

At least, the guy is honest. The reserve's been met at $100. This will be interesting.

This is definetly a repaint. Chrome showing through on the edges are a dead give away. There are lots of these around the Japan used camera shops, in general looking beat except the new paint.
