An M mount 24 by 36mm sensor would make a lot of sense for Fuji.
1 - as a company it would a product in each category - just like Canon, Nikon and Sony.
2 - an M mount body would instantly become a system camera by virtue of all the existing lenses, allowing Fuji to slowly create an M line of lenses. These lenses could be used on XF bodies by virtue of an XF - XM adaptor
and last but not least
3 - As wonderful as they are, the Fuji as a camera company will not be able to take their rightful place amongst Nikon, Canon and Sony until they have a body that incorporates the de facto gold standard (24x 36mm) sensor. Ofcourse to be sold at a premium price.
Funny thing is that all of this would be so completely easy for Fuji to do today by leveraging existing technology.
just my 2 cents - i have an XPro 1 which i use m glass with - a dynamite combo

A lot of new cameras coming out, should be a good year for everyone!

... er ... em ... define everyone?
Tell me ... do the old cameras stop working when they release the rumour of the announcement of the new models' un-boxing video release date and start speculating about the specification of the pre-production firmware's first update and the second version software update to sort out the faults they knew were there but failed to correct prior to releasing them knowing that they were working a new model the rumour of whose release would stop the old, em or was it new? ... cameras working?

This is pretty much how I feel...about the way people talk about cameras:

Great link! Couldn't agree more!
There's nothing wrong with caring about new camera models, and there is nothing wrong with ignoring new camera models. Whatever works.

I don't care about more cameras from Fuji. The current offerings are great.
The headline i want to read is "Fuji releases an X-Trans RAW processor plugin for Aperture and LR4"!!!

Of course, but just understand that not everyone feels the same way. Some find it useful. I mean, it is a rumor thread... it may be better to stay out of these type of threads if they don't do it for you. Just a suggestion.

... but it is this use of rumour as a marketing tool that I wish to ridicule ... where do you suggest I do that?

maybe we should start a site where we can ridicule web marketing...though we might be falling right into their hands with that one...

+1. First part applies especially when you're in the market for a new camera.

Maybe it would be better at the source of the rumor.

These are the times we are living in, marketing and sales are important. It can be somehow disturbing to see a new model just a few days, a few weeks after you (me!) just bought the previous, but as already say the previous still works. Important is, IMO that the company, Fuji in this case will update firmware for the previous model at least for a certain time (now the question is how long is a certain time?
) not like Leica that as soon the X2 arrived on the market stop any firmware upgrading for the x1
.
robert, very near to buy something...

Speaking of rumors/quasi-facts/prognostications, has anyone heard anything recent about the release date for the the XF 27/2.8 pancake lens? The Fuji roadmap indicates an approximate date somewhere within the 1st quarter of this year.

... ah, OK, sorry ... I thought we could hold, and discus a variety of divergent opinions here, I shall refrain from further contribution.
