I wonder what sigma is going to think about this. I also have to wonder about quality control. Depending on the manufacturer.. How far tolerances will be off for doing hyper focus or zone focus. Some comment about micro lense issue on this posting as well.

At first I thought I was looking at the new hasselblad w/ that grip they put on it.

Mirrorless claims it is not an April fools joke, but I wonder. Dp's are leaf shutter cameras. So is the leaf in the camera body like some of the old voitlander's or in the lens which is more normal. Until I c more about this I am suspicious.

It is a clever way to steal your DP Merrill camera and 300 bucks for beer money and snacks.

Call me rude but I wouldn't send camera to people making product shots with missing screws.

And I can't believe grip over metal plate is designed for human's hand 😱

I posted this here on RFF a while back buried in the middle of another thread when somebody pie-in-the-sky wished for the "Foveon rangefinder" thing, but nobody paid any attention.

The Sigma lenses are really really good, and having a fixed lens has real advantages, but who wouldn't like to try one of these out.

One of the best things about the DP series is it lens. Has there been a non-SLR digital camera that someone doesn't want an M mount on?

Exactly.

I think if this is really .. It is for those who want to show that it can be done and be the first one of their friends to show it.

Unless micro lenses have been redone, I can't believe it will be any good w/ rf lenses.

Wouldn't want it, I posted this because I was surprised someone would go thru the trouble.

No worst than that stupid Hasselblad monstrosity they announced w/ the zoom lens about 3 months back.

Right, compact Hassy looks like carpenter's joke, though take a look at grip on pimped DP - how fingers are supposed to be laid on it.

I can't see anything that suggests that the modified cameras in the articles are Merrills, they appear to be standard DP1/2s to me.

I would love to have mine converted so I could use it with a 15mm Heliar - like a Bessa L - but like others have stated the sensor may not operate well with such a a wide lens.

I believe u are correct about the picture of which camera... But since the article was not particular about which ones they converted and given it was published again this week, I assumed all the dp series.

Articele mentions DP series, so for me, this are pre-Merril models - this info were floating around for a while.
Because of decorations (grip and metal plate) which drove me mad I forgot to address this 🙂

On the Taobao page they specified acceptable models to be "DPx" - They started the project before the release of Merrill models. Looks like extensive works had to be done including planting in a new electronic shutter, so it'll unlikely work on the Merrills.

I'm surprised by the sarcasm here. Where are all the X3 lovers?

There are people modifying a 5D2 to accept M lenses, and someone here (no offence) removing the metering capability of a MP to create a "MP Classic". People surely are willing to go through all kinds of trouble...

All are out, taking pictures.

Sensor, yes. But I think M owners will rather settle on existing digital backs for their precious glass, they are already available. There will be conversions - but not so many to change a weather, I guess.
