FYI - Fuji body and lens sale for Feb to March

I've been holding out to get the 35mm, this looks like it's my cue to leap in! And i just bought a new VC for the Bessa. Dangit!

Why does this event have to occur just when I'll be searching desperately for money to pay taxes?? :(

[The 23 for me, if I can swing it ...]

... the 27mm is only ok, but it is the smallest and the cheapest. ...

I like this opinion... it means fewer people will be trying to pick it up at the sale price, leaving one for me!! :p

Seriously, the 27mm lens does VERY well in all the on-line reviews I've read. Very high resolution numbers and low aberation. Some vignetting, but the more of that the better for my taste. :)

I've been using the 35mm 1.4 and the 27mm together for awhile. The 27mm is not on the same level. I'm sorry, but it's just not. Now, is it going to kill your image? No. It simply is a good lens while the others are great. There is nothing wrong with saying this. I'm not even a lens peeper and I can clearly see the difference. Don't get offended, it's only a lens (and I didn't even say it was bad). Don't get me started on the 18mm... :)

my most viewed pic on flickr is the centre portion of an image taken with the 27…if i can scrape together the $250 (local price) i'll buy it again!
it and the 18 would make a great tiny kit!!

:)

I now own Joe's first 27/2.8 lens. The IQ is excellent. So I have to disagree with JS. I think it is indistinguishable from the 35/1.4.

The 14/2.8 is stellar. I am also impressed by the 23/1.4.

Even the 18/2 is very good as a reportage lens. The very high amount of software barrel distortion correction does degrade the frame edges compared to the 14, 23, 27 and 35 mm lenses.

My 2014 lens budget is gone as I have the 56/1.2 XF on order.

I've heard so many conflicting reviews of the 27 - according to the photozone MFT graphs the 27 apparently outperforms the 35 at every given aperture in every part of the frame, but other websites like ephotozine claim the opposite.

I'm probably going to get one regardless though since the sample images look good enough to me.

Hmmm.. Sounds like wide sample lot variance to me.

I own the 27. For me it is good enough for my needs. I like the 40ish fov, it is my preferred perspective. It is used mainly on my xe1 currently.

If u want I popping detail, check out a 80mb tiff16 file from any sigma Merrill camera. Tonal quality and color is right up there as well. Sadly the sigma cameras cannot do everything I need, so I use other camera system.

feels good to be validated…i'm not crazy!

Dang! I just bought a black X100s. Had this come out a day sooner, I would have probably jumped on a X-E2 and 27mm!

js, can you explain what you mean with this? I also have the 18mm and 35mm and am seriously considering picking up the 14mm. The 35 I love; the 18 I can't make up my mind, so I'd be curious to hear your thoughts!
