Replaces the existing 19 and 30 for Nex and m43 plus adds a 60. I wonder if this is the formulations they used from the dp Merrill series, since they only just announced the dp3m?

Well, they certainly made them uglier.
And the originals were supposedly great lenses. Time will tell.

These Sigma lenses are certainly not speed demons.. F2.8 on the 30 and 60 is more than a stop slower than the 1.8 on Sony's 35 and 50. With Sony's 50mm being relatively affordable, one wonders about the reasoning behind the introduction of a 60/2.8.

Unlikely - Foveon sensors are supposed to need no telecentric lenses, so the requirements would be different. Besides, I've yet to see any post 1980's maker do a lens redesign for increased optical performance, the only permissible reason with the corporate accountants seems to be cost cutting. In today's marketing speak "redesigned with enhanced optical performance and included as part of Sigma’s new Global Vision category restructuring. " means they redesigned the barrel to a brushed metal finish, replaced some circuit with a cheaper one, and marked up the price correspondingly.

Perhaps they are more about making great lenses than fast ones?

Colleague of mine showed the 35/1.8-OSS the other day, and shows great and fast aren't mutually exclusive. I was actually impressed with its performance. Focus speed was excellent. Detail and sharpness were excellent, and this time not only in the center (as with e.g. the 16mm).. Obviously f1.8 allows faster shutter speeds, but even then the OSS is a nice bonus; the steady image makes framing a breeze.. Shame about its initial price though, but I'm hoping that'll drop over time.Perhaps they are more about making great lenses than fast ones?
Oh, by the way, I've nothing against Sigma, one of the (optically) better lenses I had was actually one of their 50/2.8..

Thats a good question. Horses for courses possibly. Sigma have a strong and loyal following, me included. I have yet to use a Sony lens that I'm happy with. 2.8 is fine for most users, I don't need fast lenses for what I do. If the new 60 yields the kind of corner to corner sharpness that the 30 exhibits, and at the very affordable price of the 30, it will prove to be very popular.
Price point could prove to be crucial here.
It sure is butt ugly though!
