For those of u who may not have stumbled across this before. Been up since the first dp Merrill was released. Some of the dp Merrill threads point to this website, but u need to find it thru all the other replies and such.

Sigma dedicated a website to the dp Merrill's. They did a pretty good job. It's there marketing/propaganda stuff w/ plenty of example pictures.

What a coincidence ... I was just there downloading photo pro for the new gadget. That's quite a classy site I have to add.

I said "Hi from Gary" while I was there. :D

I even checked out the specs of the DP3M ... I shouldn't have done that!

Amazingly no and possibly not until the weekend!

I'm post processing gallery images today and Wednesday Thursday and Friday I'm working full days at a friend's business in the city.

I don't mind though ... I've read the manual all the way through and thought very thoroughly about how I'm going to use this camera and why I actually got it. My last compact digital camera purchase was a disaster ... I bought an OMD on impulse without really giving it a lot of thought and discovered very quickly it just wasn't me!

Soooo ... steady as she goes it is. :D

Thanks for pointing out to Merril site!

I enjoyed Sigma's commitment to customers by reading their tech info:

"Sigma not only created brand new sensor and redesigned lens optical elements but also reworked flex cable from circuit board to lens unit which often broke in pre-Merril models - sometimes after short period of use, rendering camera useless and subject to costly repair even we knew it's totally our fault".
....
"Inspired by feedback of customers, we here at Sigma decided to take battery life to
whole new level - on par of best industry examples. Two batteries supplied with camera can achieve performance of one battery from competitors - with flexibility of using camera while charging spare battery to have it fully topped for another hundred of exposures."

I think that is a very important point!

Beyond the gear that we enjoy, their business attitude is refreshing. I received a magnificent "Chritmas Gift" from them during the holidays -completely unexpected. They make it clear that they are recharting their business and customer satisfaction is job one (what a novel concept! :D), followed by advancement of their product line. I find the "new" Sigma a breath of fresh air and I am very excited about new releases from them. I am even giving (serious) consideration to replacing all of my Nikon DSLR gear with the SD product line -and then there are the wonderful Nex mount lenses too! I suppose I have always been a bit of an underdog guy.

The sigma website (I think the normal one) list discontinued and refurb gear (probably stuff came back for warrantee and demo), I think I saw some sd1 deals there...
