Can anyone recommend an easy-to-obtain hood and cap for a G-III QL?. I'm not a big filter user so that's not really an issue for me.

Thanks, Nick

The Canonet hoods can be found on ebay but they are pricey.
The original cap was just a slip on plastic cap that slips off
and gets lost very often. You may have better luck with a
48 to 49 stepping ring and some generic hoods and caps.

Nick -
I dunno which side of the Pond you are, but: i have a canonet 28 with cap and hood, very stinky case, papers and everything except box. I ain't sure it's the same cap and hood as used by the G-III QL (17 i guess), but if it is, you can have the whole thing. The camera itself looks weared but is working, - ho,wever obviously it's not a QL-17.
I got it for 5 euro + postage, put new light seals and cleaned it a bit, but I ain't using it at all. Make an offer in PM if you're interested. I'm in Europe, Netherlands.

Sounds like finding a simple generic cap and hood is the answer. Thanks for your offer Pherdinand but I'm trying very hard *not* to buy any more gear!

I found that the cap off my Holga makes a reasonable substitute for the original Canon item.

I normally throw the Holga ones out to avoid blank frames :p

On my GIII QL-17, and most of my other rangefinders, I use a generic (Vivitar) metal screw-on lens hood. And a generic 52mm plastic lens cap fits onto the hood perfectly. There is room for a filter too. I leave it on at all times and it looks tre' suave...
