anyone have a cheap source of CR2 batteries? The G1 goes through Energizer lithiums at a really fast rate.

How cheap is cheap? Adorama sells 2-packs of off brand (UltraLast) ones for $3.99. The reviews on Google Shopping seem decent.

Mine does not go through batteries at anything like a fast rate - I have shot eleven films since I last recharged (and rechargeable CR2 have less than half the capacity of regular ones).
But I once had to adapt to the F5 (which manages to eat a whole pile of expensive AA size lithiums faster than even the most abused G1 goes through its CR2s), and thanks to that, I habitually do not measure+focus as I frame, but only as I release. If you are accustomed to a manual focus TTL meter camera (on some, a set of button cells is good for 10000 meter readings), you may have to readjust there.
Personally I'd recommend rechargeable cells - they are rather short on capacity, but not critically so, and are much more economical, now that the LED torch boom seems to have driven CR2 prices to insane regions.

You might try Ebay. I've bought a bunch, many years supply for about .80 cents a battery lately. You just have to keep an eye on it. The ones I've bought have been Kodak and Duracell.
