So, Panasonic have moved even further from the rangefinder ergonomics with this. Too bad. Hoping the PMA will bring something worthwhile for RF shooters...!

I don't see much change to the ergonomics involved. HD will make the G1 more attractive to many.

I agree. This looks like the G1 with HD added. It appears to be the same body with a microphone and HD connectors. The sensor is different, however.

I'm just excited that it has an "oversized" sensor, like the LX-3 did. When you change aspect ratios, it doesn't just crop from one of the other aspect ratios; it actually changes both dimensions and uses all of the image circle. I think that makes it the first interchangable lens digital camera that shoots 1:1 and 16:9 natively. I'd love to see that thrown into a stripped-down, stills-only, smaller body without a "prism" hump.
But where's that 20mm 1.7 prime they promised?

Maybe, but I'm not into video, only still photography, so this new toy has no new value added...

It has value added if you like 1:1, 3:2, or 16:9 aspect ratios and use them with any regularity...
...just saying. It adds something.

The video control on this camera is very good - AF during HD video recording and everything..... Very interesting.

I am happy they are working on the system, that 7-14 lens is tasty looking to me, I think I will have to have it, where is the price though! And where is me 40 1.7, I be wanting some of that too.

I read on a gadget blog that Olympus will have their m4/3 ready to ship in summer...
The Oly will be DOA in my book without a EVF like the one on the Pani which will allow focusing of manual focus lenses and without interchangeable lenses. We will see.

Leave off the EVF and offer a small fast prime and you have a Hexar AF sort of camera. Pretty compelling to me. Sort of like what the Sigma DP cameras should have been with the added possibility of other lenses.

i wonder if oly will be a long time waiting.
they are showing the same mock up as last time round.
i'm very glad i did not wait although i am as curious as the rest on what oly will do.

Some sites are mentioning the addition of either a core or 2nd CPU in the Venus engine to help cut down on high ISO noise.
The video is interesting, but the whole system seems expensive to me, needing expensive adapters, and costing 2-3x of a larger less crop factored Nikon dslr. The kit lens, like most DSLR kits seems slow and lots of purple fringing.
I hope Olympus does a better job with m4/3rds.

Once you add in some adapters and wide primes, you're at or beyond a Canon 5D Mk II.

1500 dollars??? Not very economical...feeling much better about my purchase of a G1 and not waiting, not that video recording was a make or break for me.
