G2 problem.....

I'm wondering if any G users here have had this problem and if so:
1. Did it get worse?
2. How was it fixed?

Yesterday while switching from the 90mm to the 28mm I couldn't get the 28mm to "click" into place. I would rotate the barrel clockwise but it would not lock in. I was able to get 90mm on and continue shooting. After getting home I tried more patiently and was able to get the lens locked into place several times and it seemed to work fine.
Today, while switching from the 90 to 45, the same thing happened. I tried several times to get the lens locked on and couldn't. After putting the 90 back on and removing it, I was able to get the 45 locked in. The lenses have always been a little fussy to mount but this was the worst I've experienced. Not good when you're in a fast shooting situation.

Can anyone share on this undesireable phenomena?

I presume you're grabbing the lens barrel by the silver area, not by the black base. Am I right?

Otherwise... I'm baffled. Let's hope someone comes up with a better idea.

I've had this happen a few times. Need to be careful with keeping the aperture ring from rotating/twisting when the lens is not mounted. Basically, you need to do various finger magic with the aperture ring and the body until it "clicks" itself and then it will mount. -- I asked this question on the contaxg mailing list a few months ago 😉

Aha! Jano is right! I noticed that the aperture ring cannot move all the way to f2 when the lens is off the camera.

Give it a try, Steve: open the lens, then remove it without touching the aperture ring. Mount the lens on the camera again, without touching the aperture ring... you'll probably hear the click that says "all systems go!"

I've also noticed the aperture ring not turning when off the lens. In addition, the viewfinder clicks back and forth when changing lenses. Thank you Solares for your incisive comment.

That's funny, didn't notice this befor and had to try it.

When I dismount the 90 set to F11, stop it down to F22 while unmounted I then can turn the aperture ring to F11 and the aperture blades are fully open. I then mounted it and the aperture ring turns to F2.8.

The 28 unmounted at 2.8, stoped down and openend again, refused to click into place and I had to remove it three times until it did but I couldn't repeat that therafter.
