They dont like being kept in drawers, and not used, they like being used.

Look for the user manual, case and other accessories that your grandfather might have had. Show your Granny the pictures, you take. Plan on passing on the camera to your successors early, ...

If you set the camera on B and run the self timer you can get about 2 seconds.

If it breaks you can fix it yourself...

Congratulations !

Perhaps more important than the camera is what seems to be a highest quality Jupiter, as seen by the close up at f/2. Although at computer screen is always tricky to judge. Not every kiev owner is so lucky.

Cheers,
Ruben

I bought two spare Kiev 4 cameras and finally made one of them with a J8 lens. Securing the back with black tape I went out yesterday to take pictures on an iso 100/24 roll. Unfortunately the take up spool became loose at the 9th frame, so the camera was unable to transport the film any further. The negatives where good, but I've got some problems scanning them. Maybe I should have them printed 🙂

My father has a Contax III, but he hasn't used it for years. Its shutter became stiff, something which does'nt happen when you keep using the camera. However it operates smoother, the Kiev is more noisy. The Kiev hold is something I cannot get used to, although I've got quite big hands I like the hold of the Zorki1 the most.

Camera has onlu original case, but it dont have lens cap, i'll heve to improvise. Allready all my family started to ask for prints of this photos since i do not print very much from digital and everyone is happy because they will have premiere photos from my daughter

I'm amased of the quality of this lens, this days i'll buy from russian seller on e-bay wide angle and tele Jupiter lens with viewfinders. This are my first 2 rolls, one is Konika 100 and other is Kodak 200 and i did not have exposure meter so i'll have to find one. My profession is film editing and animation (graduated on Skopje's academy) and i'm very familiar with all digital tools and workflows also analog and 35mm film cutting and i have to confirm this - photos from this camera and lens dont let you tweak them in Photoshop because they are so perfect. I planned to buy Leica Digilux 3, but now.....hmmm i don't know 🙂

What is most interesting for me is that 2 of my colegues which are 3d animators and whole world for them is digital started to dig in shelfs of their gradparents and 1 found zorki 4 in perfect condition and other Praktica SLR also in perfect condition
