Gallery picks for the week ending Mon December 6th 2010

Gallery Picks is an opportunity for you to post a heads up to what you have seen during the past seven days at RFF that you like.
There's no membership requirement, no criteria (except past seven days), no voting, no limit to the number of photos mentioned, and everybody mentioned is a winner.

Anybody can start the thread on a Monday.

Anybody can join in, it's a community event!

Interesting subject, great reflections. I'm a fan of umbrella shots myself. Well seen.

Blackwave
I love this shot for its minimalism. The soft tones are a nice touch to the scene.

I like the solid geometry of the E. Some really nice things going on in the composition.

Chuck Cates ~

Chuck Cates ~

Love the colours, the serenity, and the contrast of the old fashioned buildings and the high voltage power line.

gho - R251-28: Nicely mysterious low-key image with a diagonal composition that conveys a lot of tension.
U27794I1291590816.SEQ.0.jpg

Luiman - Natura Morte_02: I prefer this version over the color version. This one is very irritating due to its blurred double contours. How'd you do that?
PC050059bw02.jpg

Filmfan - Alien Landed: I love this picture for its surreal appearance. Why on earth (pun intended) should aliens respect parking spaces? Also, I love the rich tonalities in this picture.
U19407I1291496142.SEQ.0.jpg

Machspeed - Looking: That's a decisive moment captured, if there ever was one. This picture works on more than one level - in terms of timing, in terms of composition, and in terms of post-processing.
U33140I1291403629.SEQ.0.jpg

Luiman, Paris, parc de la Villette: I love the contrast between the vertical linear structures and the wave of the roof - it somehow brightens the otherwise bleak atmosphere.
02_12_10.jpg

Petronius - Rollei_35_101_12: Very intelligently executed diptych. I like the contrast shown by the two identical backgrounds which only differ by the moving car - the tension between mobility and immobility.
U7524I1291272136.SEQ.0.jpg

Gerbilthemistake - Smoke Break: Nice composition and lighting contrast - a picture that has something to say.
U19186I1291175174.SEQ.0.jpg

... and last, but not least: Paulfish4570 - Back Slash. Simplicity rules - what a wonderfully reduced composition, yet full of tension!
U35015I1291118011.SEQ.0.jpg

Vince Lupo: Two classes of books, well framed
U17387I1291069056.SEQ.0.jpg

Den; only one example for great way of seeing and another proof that the camera doesn´t matter!
U27833I1291086428.SEQ.0.jpg

Harrejesus: An example for simplicity and perfection!
U26229I1291115610.SEQ.0.jpg

Arjay´s photo for it´s timelessness, DOF and tones!
U33376I1291127384.SEQ.0.jpg

Carlos M: Great eye for color and minimalistic compositions!
4-0823.jpg

Onur77 caught the idea of a car; a picture like a Chandler story!
U21611I1291227305.SEQ.0.jpg

StefanJozef: This picture makes one feel the cold - and is great composed!
nobles_4.jpg

luiman: I love this italian light!
04_12_10.jpg

Greyscale´s photo for the light and colorsin this small world documentary shot!
