Here are my picks:

Jamie Pillers, Friendly - I don't know why but it stricken me as something Eggleston would photograph..

snausages, Professional Bullriders - It's just such a classic but not in a bad way. I like the circular light in the background focusing the attention.

robklurfield, leading the blind, 1983 - I guess if the great street photographers did photograph their version of the blind, at some point we will do it as well if given the opportunity. And this is a good photograph of a blind - i like how she is not entirely straight, but leaning a little backwards (that's unusual but probably characteristic to a blind), I like how the leading person is not visible apart from the foot, it's like the blind has three legs, which indeed is a way to compensate the disability - it either is another person or the white stick (the "third" leg). Good photograph!

mudride; I like the contrast between sharpness and the blurred train and the symmetry in fore- and background against the asymmetric train door. (BTW, is the distortion normal for a Leica lens?)

motion runner; unusual, a new view on a everyday subject - great!

luiman; perfect use of lines and tones

J Borger; a wonderful combination of organic and geometric forms; great tones too!

paulfish4570; a unlimited theme - well composed

and a picture in the best tradition of Inge Morath and Willy Ronis!

porktaco; a surreal combination, telling many stories!

robert blu; Man, that makes me jealous! Chapeau!

machspeed; parts that give a great sum!

semrich; a timeless image - no cellphone visible!

blindlemon - Phillack Church

Creepy? maybe, intriguing, yes, interesting...certainly. Just stood out like a beacon for me, completely different to the usual gallery fare and for that alone it had to be one of my Picks this week.

Two cloud shots now, both beautiful but very different.

Firstly, LynnB's

and Slammer2x

Both have oodles of drama but also delicate detail which is what made them stand out for me.

I've got three more to go but I'll leave them for tomorrow.

I took some time Sunday to view this week's additions to the gallery. Granted, I didn't look at every image at full size, but still I'm struck by how I'm rewarded with a second look at many of the images I didn't select initially, now that they've been noted by someone else.

I liked this by gho because I don't quite know how it was done or what it actually is ... and to be honest it doesn't really matter!

mgeary - Lionel Groulx

Foremost, I like the geometry of this photograph with its two layers, the static figure and the moving train. To me, the dark architectural structures are looking like an arrow and I also like the tonality of this low light photograph.

slammer2x - 2416

What I like about this one is the treatment of the subject. Very nice selective focus, that hightlights the mossy structure on the stone. I find the composition very balanced and the waterfall in the background is inducing some kind of freshness. Not to speak of the beautiful colors.

Alex Krasotkin - City Lights

I like Alex' photographs and especially his portraits. What I like about this one is the nightly urban atmosphere and the souvereign posture of the subject. The male figure on the advertising board in the background is adding another dimension to this picture.

Carino-Watchdog

This is looking like a scene directly taken out of life. What I especially like about the photo is the technical treatment. Fabulous color and excellent sharpness.

Tenessee Jones - shadow sketch

This is possibly my last week's favourite. It is well composed and exposed. The light is beautiful and there is a sense of of mystery and tension in the scene.



I do not find it easy to write about what I like about a picture also, as for me they seem to work more on a visual - emotional than on a verbal level.
