My first attempt at covering an event. I'm not doing this professionally nor intend to make a living out of it. Rather I'd like to convey my personal feelings and thoughts - nevertheless I want to do it in a proper way. Any constructive comments/thoughts are welcome.

It's here

The best picture is this one:

I too find that most of other ones are not close enough to show expressions on people's faces, so they show them merely as part of a crowd.

This shot has ben made from no more than 2 meters away:

How far away were you, on average?

On the technical side, most shots are very contrasty, were you pushing your film a lot?

Payasam: that's one and the same event, but maybe didn't get your point. Anyway I'm trying to get closer all the time - it's a slow process :)

mfogiel: I think the picture you linked was the one I was thinking about when going there. It was quite dark inside and I was using Ilford 3200, not pushing but since I had an all manual camera I think I missexposed (under?) + I've developed the film myself - another place for mistakes ;)

I like most of the pictures. The crowd, the dirt on the floors and the almost emotionless facial expressions give a good look at the "sense" of such a convention. The man in the wheelchair living his virtual life has something tempting - we don´t have to see his face. The three people sitting in the boring hall and staring at their Nintendo-screens, the boy waving with his Wii controller or the man smiling in front of the pistol-lady figurine are great. The two rockband pictures have nice layers in the different reflecting glass surfaces.
Many pictures (especially the "Sennheiser" picture) show perfectly the difference between the high-gloss-games world and the tristesse of the people who play the games.
The graininess and the high contrasts, even the dust on the negatives match with the debris in many of your pictures.
All together: Not a very positive look at a games convention, but a realistic one.
