in truth, i took a number of pics on saturday morning and that one is the only one worth a second look.

A test shot of a white wall would be most useful...please.

12@5.6, not bright room, cfl bulbs, off white wall, converted to b&w in pse 8, resized only.

The 12 is an amazing lens. The LTM version tends to include various bodyparts, unless you are careful. I also have the Nikon F version and it is slightly better as the front is more distinct. You are playing with some cutting edge lens technology - but when it is needed - it is the only game in town for a Rf.
It is an interesting lens to take for a walk - you keep getting closer and closer and still everything is in the frame! great for cityscapes and interiors too - can make a 500 sq.ft room look like ball-room.

I particularly like the way you've connected with your subject Joe ... this really trancends the 'just another wall shot' syndrome that seems to make so many genuine attempts by others to capture this unique genre rather ordinary in the final analysis.

That is so wide I'm wondering if there is even a point to it. Well someone I suppose. There's always someone.

oddly if it’s printed really big, I have a few printed 32x48 it starts to look more normal, you get a real “being there” effect, and indoors it’s a pussycat of a lens, dead easy to get good photos 🙂

The 12mm used selectively will certainly get you there.

If being in the "middle of it" is your thing, the super wides are the way to go.

this seems to be the main city of the Greek island Corfu;
I'm pretty sure of it, cause I spent my holidays there last year, but .. who knows?

My bad ! I sent a PM to the OP to ask, and he confirmed that it is indeed Corfu !

...some day, I'll go to Annecy and take a shot of the place I thought itwas, just to show how much it looks like !

the building on the left was built by the French at the start of the 19th century after defeating Austria at Austerlitz, the Brits took it off them in, 1810ish

If you look at the front you can see why it looks so French

very like the Rue de Rivoli
