Geoffrey Crawley - Very sad news

Amateur Photographer have just reported the sad passing of Geoffrey Crawley:

Someone who really understood the technical side of photography and could write about it in a way that was both fascinating and understandable. I'm sure we'll never see his like again.

All our hearts must go out to his widow and young son. He was a wonderful man. I remember his saying once, "Can you imagine giving up photography? Because I can't." And despite (or rather, precisely because of) his enormous knowledge, he was always willing to say, "I could be wrong."

Surely one of the best ever writers on the scientific and technical aspects of photography.

His articles in AP, for example, were always superb.
