Getting a camera into a concert

If you are going against the rules; thats the one to take. Why risk the 0.95 in there if you just happen to get roughed up??

True, I learned not to take the 50mm 0.95 after it got some battle scars on the exterior and a large dent in the filter thread while shooting a punk concert. Youre right there I dont wanna damage it more

I am glad your thinking about it Jake. There is no question the 0.95 will perform in the low light in there; but who's too say it will be low light in there?

Jake that dent on the filter thread can be popped back out by any quality machine shop/or Tool and Die Shop using one of their radius guages. If you were here, I could do it for you as I have a very large set.

Thanks for the offer, I have been meaning to but saving up to get the body done as well - 3 hour train journey to brighton to get it fixed

I need a 50/0.95!

But,

A bullet to the head would be cheaper!

Any chance there is a train station near the venue?
If you get blocked at the gate go rent a locker.

Last years ROTR I had the M4-2 and 40 Nokton stuck with me after a 35 minutes cab ride and atleast as much walking to the arena. I had no backup plan if they denied me access.

Luckily the guy searching my bag overlooked the kit and was much more interested if I had green in my cigarette case.

TLR with lens caps. No SLR, no lens swaps - if this are check marks for security. And it could be named a cooler for medicine. Just pop out screen cover and close again, saying it can't be kept open before actually taking mixture.

Take the 7 with a 35 on it, put a 135 in the front of your pants. Pin it to the inside of your pocket. Security may just think you are happy to see them.

Things are a lot tighter now than even the 80's.

B2 (;->

Under the guidelines of the O2 it says a "Professional" camera is a camera with a 35 or larger lens.

My strategy would be this. I would take my Nikon AF35P&S. Yea it has a 35/2.8 but the camera looks cheap. Has a good lens. That should get me in. I'm going to a death metal concert so the lights will be plentiful I would imagine. Rickey Powell shot the Beasties with a Minolta P&S & became famous but he had better choices in good film during the 80's 90's Hip Hop scene.😀

If you're shooting from the crowd, take a P&S.
The flash will be somewhat covered by people's phone lights/flashes.

There's still a tiny chance the flash won't be well received. (I'm a concert shooter, and we're not allowed to use flash at all), but since you'll be in the midst of a bunch of people holding up their phones, you're more likely to get away with it.

Don't try stashing an extra lens somewhere, you're making security's job harder, and they won't be impressed if they have to retrieve it, and don't try to pass off a TLR as a medicine holder for the same reason.
